October v. December

Post by Theresa87 » Sun Sep 27, 2015 5:25 pm

1st attempt-155 Sept 2014
2nd attempt 159 Dec 2014
3rd attempt-scheduled for this saturday!
Goal-Harvard or t14 with scholarship
GPA-4.0

Initially I had hoped to get my PT average up as close to 180 as possible so 177-180. Last 4 PT 170 (PT 60),167 (PT61),172 (PT63),174 (PT71). I've consistently scored in the low 170s throughout the 40s. Once I got into more recent tests, I experienced a dip in scores, but now it seems to be climbing back up again. I've scored a couple 175s, a 176, and a 177 though in earlier tests.

My plan is to take two more PT (72 and 75) before test day. If those scores drop below 170 i will 100% wait until December. I would like to get around 174 or higher on those last two practice tests to be confident.

I still have prep material and drilling I could use from now until December. But I would only be able to do about 2 PT a week from now until then. I know that since its my 3rd attempt I should try to be 100% confident, but at the same time I know that over the next couple of months I will only be able to commit about 10 hours a week into studying, whereas for the past 3 or 4 months I committed about 30 hours a week.

Plus there is the advantage of applying earlier to think about, even though it wouldn't be much of an advantage...

Logic games are solid- -0 many times, -1 or -2 on occasion
Logical reasoning is started to become solid -2 per section
Reading comprehension- as good as -2 to -6

I think you're on the right track - I've never taken before but I'm testing in the same range on recent PTs and have a very similar GPA, also looking for T14 (hopefully Hamilton or Ruby *knock on wood*). But I don't really think there's much more you could be doing, plus at this point you have no fresh PTs to use if you do postpone.

Yeah if I postpone I think I would have 48 and 51 as fresh ones to use. Then I would have 64-70, 73, 74 to use as retakes that I haven't looked at in over a year. I was hoping to get to all of those tests and I still have some drilling that I haven't looked at...but at this point I feel like I've come a long way just with what I have done. Drilled all logic games, about half of logical reasoning, and by the end of it I will have taken about 30 practice tests.

Knowing that I still have material leftover is what makes me want to postpone. But I'll be working full time over the next couple of months and I just don't know if it would be worth it to wait.

So my October lsat would be the 3rd one in two years...would it be possible to take the February lsat as well just in case I fall short a couple of points in October and get waitlisted?
