PT Sectional Consistency

Post by mjsjr » Wed Sep 09, 2015 5:27 pm

I just finished a timed-RC section that I was able to avoid missing any questions on (yay). While I'm glad to see a -0 anytime, it's also a bit frustrating because I can rarely pull this off on full-length PTs. I've already discussed my issue with PTs vs individual timed-sections scores; that's not what I want to talk about.

Instead, I think it's interesting that I always manage to mess up one section when I do reasonably well on another section. For instance, the -0 on the above mentioned RC section would be outweighed by a -5 on a LR section in the same PT. What do others think about this? Is it a consistency problem?--where I need to practice timed individual sections more to achieve unilateral low scores across all individual sections on a PT? Or is it a fundamental understanding issue?-- in that I don't understand the really difficult questions enough (because the tougher questions are in the tough sections that pop up to counter the the "easy" section that I aced)?

Any thoughts?
