Random low PT scores

Post by Theresa87 » Thu Aug 20, 2015 4:09 pm

I know almost everyone experiences a random LSAT where they perform lower than expected. I was consistently scoring 170-171 with a test as high as 172, and I just scored a 166 on PT 44 today

My question is...how do you guys react to a dip in scores like this? Is it a reason for alarm or do you just take it in stride and try to do better the next time?

I thought that I had resolved my timing issues for the most part, but timing is what killed me on this last PT. I didn't feel fatigued or hungry and actually felt refreshed after not having PTed yesterday... so I don't know why I underperformed today.

I did PT 44 too yesterday and had dropped six points! I wasn't the only one.
But I was not in a good mood yesterday and I kept getting distracted. And when I reviewed I found I missed a lot of assumption and strengthen questions, which is my weakness.
Not sure if PT 44 is arguably harder.

I wasn't as careful with timing. Like I knew I was being too slow in RC and the last LR section and ran out of time in both of those sections.

I have read somewhere that the LR gets harder starting at test 44. But I've done well on LR in tests that are in the 50s, so I'm not sure how much that played into it.

It's just so discouraging. I'm going to test again Saturday and hopefully redeem myself!

Like you said, this happens to everybody. Practice more to tighten the distribution and make your low outliers less bad and less frequent. And if your test day happens to be one of those low days for whatever reason, that's why you get three takes.

I am on my third retake, but if I'm not ready in October, I'll push back to December. That's why a low PT is so scary even if it is just a fluke.
