I'll be taking the October test. I'm currently at a mid-160s score (155 diagnostic) and it's been frustrating but I'll admit I wasn't very diligent in my studying. I'm planning on taking 3 PTs a week while also drilling certain kinds of LR questions and doing the Cambridge "difficult questions" packet.
This might be reaching for the stars, but I feel that if I can really focus on BR and reviewing all my incorrect and even correct answers (along with drilling), I can improve substantially in the remaining time. How many hours a day or a week do you think is necessary/appropriate? Right now I'm aiming for a 170 (recently got a 169 so I'm getting there) but ideally I'm really pushing for a higher 99th percentile score. Again, a girl can dream. Is this realistic? How much time do I have to devote?

It's already mid-August. Reaching your target score on one or two PTs isn't enough, you'll need to be consistently reaching that range. You should be doing 2.5-3 hours a day until exam time.

I know it's hard to predict but if I do at least 3 hours or so per day, how much can one realistically improve by?DCfilterDC wrote:It's already mid-August. I went from averaging 167-169 mid-August to averaging 173-175 by the September test last year. That's anecdotal of course, but I think 1.5 months is realistic to make that improvement for you if you actually commit to the time.negligee wrote:I know it's hard to predict but if I do at least 3 hours or so per day, how much can one realistically improve by?DCfilterDC wrote:It's already mid-August. So you spent 2.5-3 hours a day and saw that increase? If you don't mind me asking, what did you get on the September test?DCfilterDC wrote:I went from averaging 167-169 mid-August to averaging 173-175 by the September test last year.
