LG Speed

Post by negligee » Sun Jul 19, 2015 1:08 pm

I've been noticing that my speed on the easy games isn't as efficient as it should/could be whereas more often than not, I reach or slightly surpass the speed that 7sage suggests for more difficult (level 4-5) games. I've been trying to speed up for the easier ones but are there any tips or general strategies to achieve this?

Also I tend to make a few stupid mistakes which can be very frustrating because it'll be the difference between a -3 and a -1 or even -0. Like I forget to apply certain conditions to answer choices. It's so frustrating. Any words of advice?

If you're doing everything correctly, and are slow then it's likely just practice. To give a personal anecdotal experience - on my first practice test I was -14 in games, and within a week or two was -2 in 50 minutes. 2 weeks later -0 in 35. After teaching it extensively, in the games section, I would get -0 in roughly 12-13 minutes for all 4 games. I'm not saying this to show off, but indicate that experience makes you more efficient and unlike the other questions, you don't need to process that much information to get them correct. The most useful thing once you can get -0 with 15 minutes per game is to just do 35 min sections again and again and again all in one day till you hit your target. If you're crazy disciplined this is easily accomplished if you don't have lunch or dinner until you pull -0 in 35 minutes. Your brain will adapt because it wants food, and you aren't going to be malnourished in 1 day.

I found that it really helped me to lay out the two or three possible scenarios at the front of the game (if it lent itself to that). Then it became easier to plug and play. Also, don't write over any diagrams. Make a new one for every question.

Sorry if these suggestions sound trite, but they really helped me improve on my games.
