High scorers advice needed~

Post by msh1986 » Thu Jul 16, 2015 9:40 am

Hi guys,

So I've been drilling LR questions for about 3 weeks now and I'm missing around 7 questions per section. It was around 11 when I first started.

Right now I'm just fully focusing on accuracy, so it takes me about one hour to finish the whole section. I take about another hour to go through each question that I missed and try to fully understand why I got them wrong.

As the test day is approaching, I'm not sure if I should start timing myself now to get used to it or wait till I get down to -2 range first, then start timing.

I'm not even a high scorer relative to TLS standards, but I would encourage you to move on to timed practice asap (assuming you already have a firm grasp of the question types, concepts, and common flaws from a book like the trainer). Try to get used to everything as close to the real test conditions as possible. IMO Blind review is when you should focus on getting 100% accuracy.

I'd also suggest focusing the last 2 months or so before the test primarily on full preptests under timed conditions (including a 5th section).

Are there particular types of questions (assumption, parallel, etc) that doesn't work well to you or you miss all randomly/evenly? For the former I suggest drilling for that specific type(s); for the latter you may get your hands on timed PTs now, at least don't wait until -2.

Are you missing particular question types? Are you having trouble identifying assumptions, conclusions, counter arguments, etc? If you're consistently missing 7 untimed then there's a problem with fundamentals. Do you have a book you're going through?
