Getting the best out of LR Cambridge packets

Post by beantheshadow » Fri Jul 10, 2015 6:39 pm

Hello everyone:

So last week I finished all the bibles so I started drilling by question type. Do any of you know some methods that would get the most out of my drilling?

Have you started full PTs?

If so, I would use the Analytics on 7Sage (they're free...) and use the LR Cambridge packets to practice your weak areas as you identify them.

If you want to do more drilling before your PTs, stick with the level 1 and 2 questions until you are nearly perfect on those and save the more difficult problems for after you start doing PTs.

I would mix it up. Do 2-5 questions a day on a few types for practice. Do them slowly with the goal of fully understanding why right answer choices are right and wrong answer choices are wrong. You can do more if you want, but try to save them for focused practice later on.

When are you taking the LSAT?

Some background info: I scored a 150 on the June 2014 LSAT but to be completely honest it wasn't the best time for me to take it (birth of my son), and I didn't take the studying seriously (to put it in perspective I only took two PTs and they were both more than three months before I took the exam, I know I am an idiot).

The only problem I have with that is my memory is pretty good. And when I try to re-do old questions I immediately know the right answer. But I like the idea of doing them slowly and fully understanding the question.

I started studying last month, and I've taken three 4 section PTs under timed conditions (152, 157, 157) and then I used the 7sage analytics to see my weaknesses (NA are killing me). I wanted to drill from the packets and then by next month starting doing a PT a week. I'm going to take the December exam.

I would register for one of the 7Sage courses. Go through the entire curriculum and then start doing PTs as scheduled. Your PT scores are low enough to indicate a weak understanding of fundamentals.

Drill with Cambridge packets after every 3-5 PTs to focus on weaknesses. If you want to study for small iterations between PTs, drill with Cambridge then as well for 15-30 minutes a shot.

Also, re: good memory. This is a curse for any high scorer. Just keep some completely unseen PTs in the bank for future use. Use them towards the end for an accurate assessment. Don't feel bad about not touching a PT before the real test because you can use them for a potential re-take.

You have plenty of time to take it slow and get a >95th percentile score.
