What does it take? What to do? Help is needed...

Post by Op_Diom » Thu Jul 02, 2015 11:28 am

After studying for probably a solid 3 to 4 months total, I finally sat for this June's exam. I constantly PT'ed in the 170-174 range (while occasionally dipping down into 169-167 range). However, after finishing each section in time, and feeling relatively good about it afterwards, I received a 164 and to say the least, I was devastated. For prep, I went through the Manhattan LR, LGB, LRB, the Trainer, most available PT's (either through drilling, sections of full PT's), Manhattan RC. Honestly, I think I had a good 'feel' for the test and a good generalized understanding of it, although a random passage, game, or question could potentially throw me off. The time I spent studying for this test is absolutely ridiculous and now that I have signed up for the October exam, I am not sure if I have anything left in the tank. What should I do about the small number of untouched PT's available to study with for the Oct. exam? Admittedly, I cut corners during prep and could have stuck to a more thorough regimen or held myself to a higher standard. Looking back, I should have taken more full length timed tests and even 5 section tests, but it was hard to find 4 hour blocks during the day. Also, it seems LR is my strength, RC is hit and miss, and LG is my weakness, so my time allotted to study for each section may have also been a mistake. So my questions are the following: what should I do now? Does anyone have a similar experience, which he or she has come back from to score 170+ on the second or third exam? If so, what was the catalyst or thing that changed your approach to the test the most? What should I do in my prep this time around? Any help is much appreciated.
