As a former LSAT instructor I'd say that's not common but not unheard of either, especially if you're talking three months of intensive preparation. There's a really wide variation in how much people improve from diagnostic, depending on work, how much the diagnostic just "clicks" the first time, prior exposure to similar test material etc. (e.g. some people have never seen anything like the games, while others have done similar brain teasers before). But if 172 is your goal, be prepared to take more preparation time if you haven't gotten there in three months, even if that means putting off law school a year.

Thats a good diagnostic, especially if you did worser on LG than other sections
Idk about likelihood but definitely possible your in a good spot just work your ass off

What is the likelihood of someone starting with a 160 diagnostic getting 172+ actual with 3 months of prep? Obviously it will vary from person to person, and some start much lower and end up higher, but for someone motivated and starting at this level, is it more likely than not this level of improvement will be reached?

I had a similar diagnostic but very different breakdowns (-0 on games, -10 on RC), but in the past month have been able to pull it up to mid 170s. It is possible, familiarity with the questions helps!
