Why do people on TLS have higher numbers?

Post by Rstein888 » Fri Mar 06, 2015 12:23 am

Not sure if this is the right place for this but why do people on TLS have so much better numbers on average than the typical law school applicant? Even numbers most people would consider great, like in the 163-166 range are considered low here. Is it just that TLS applicants tend to be more serious (since they are taking the time to post online about law school) than average?

What you said yes, and then when ppl come on here with a 150, it usually goes like this: TLS says retake ---> They don't want to hear it ----> They leave and never come back, not ever thinking about it again.

I don't know. Would at 171 really give me a shot at CCN? I've heard Yale is the only place worth sticker and I'm not a URM

Lower scorers tend to be low information people and may not seek out this type of aid. I'm just a lazy dude. If you look left, you will notice I even get lazy enough to not walk across the park and prefer to hail a ride.

Yea, my 162 is super low for this site, but I'm retaking. This is like the country club of law school students, just instead of money keeping people out, ignorance to holding high standards drives normal people away.

Also, a lot of people on here are shooting for T14, which require the higher scores. The average prospective law student doesn't realize how horrible the job market is from TTTs

All I'm saying is nothing wrong going to a top 50 school if you feel like you can graduate in the top 25% of your class and are not paying out the ass.

ETA: of course, everybody probably feels like they can graduate top 25%

What's your GPA? Even as a splitter you could grab money from lower T14. Are you K-JD or do you have work experience?

I was kidding. I'm a 163, 2.78 gpa. Yes I had a terrible semester, yes I know a million people are about to tell me to retake or not go to law school. 1 year of WE

You're right to a point, but a lot of people who are in the low to mid 160s are in a rush to start law school. There is nothing wrong with a strong T1 school for cheap, but if you can get that with a 163, it usually benefits you to wait a year, retake for a 170+, and open doors to the T14 with $.

I'd love to but worked extremely hard for my 163, average of 167 in practice and just used my 3rd retake

Depending on your goals you can still go to a solid regional that can get you where you want to go. Just don't rush into it and pay six figures that will be tough to repay. Good luck!

Good thing two 0Ls know what it takes to be in the top 25% of their classes!

most people don't study at all,

let alone find tls forums, create a username, and post about their scores

it takes a special kind of aspie to do that

The ETA completely invalidates your first statement.

I was simply referring to his T50 comment, nothing about top 25% at law school. The negativity on TLS can be really petty at times.

It's been several years since I have really accepted the fact I am not special, there are people better than me, and there are people not better than me, objectively. Learning this is part of becoming a grown up.

Communicate now with those who not only know what a legal education is, but can offer you worthy advice and commentary as you complete the three most educational, yet challenging years of your law related post graduate life.

Because iron sharpens iron. Just stay out of the lounge until after you take the LSAT. People change in the lounge.

Seriously? What are you waiting for?

Now there's a charge.
