MSS questions what should I do first?

Sometimes those sneaky LSAT guys and gals throw conditional reasoning in MSS questions just to distract you when you could have figured out the inference without the condtional logic. So my question is should I just attempt to do the conditional logic first, or go ahead and try to figure the question out with my own intuitive reasoning first?
