Completely new to this... What do I buy for LSAT prep? Lost
Hi everyone. I decided on law school after deeply contemplating things over winter break. I am completely new to this and in my junior year. I am aiming for T14 and my GPA is not the best (3.33 freshman year at one school-->transferred to another and have a 3.94 at this school) so I really need to get a high score to have a chance. Everyone is telling me to do a Kaplan course over the summer in the classroom setting. What do you suggest is the best way to go for someone like me who is a horrible standardized test taker, thinks that the logic section looks like a foreign language, and is late in the prepping game (I need a ton of repetition in order to do well on tests)? I appreciate this so much.

If you want to take a class I'd suggest 7Sage and definitely not Kaplan. Also get a Cambridge packet for drilling and the LSAT Trainer is a great book to own as well.

Re: Advice: Completely new to this... is Kaplan "The Best"?
Wow! I did not know that. I don't know why everyone on campus blabs that Kaplan is the way to go for anything to prep for med to grad school to law school... I see everyone on here talking about powerscores, bibles, etc but I don't understand what that is? Can someone tell me what books I should buy to study for each section? I am ready to go onto Amazon tonight and start purchasing whatever I need to have the best chance at getting a top LSAT score...
Also, would you recommend one on one tutoring from somewhere or someone? I am in Chicago.

I'd also suggest Blueprint.

If you have $$$ and need some structured studying, I second Blueprint. I took them this past fall and they're great for getting you to 160 IMO.

Doesn't sound like a troll to me. If you have time, look up #lsat on Instagram...there's a ton of posts with Kaplan books, lmao.RZ5646 wrote:This must be an obvious troll, right?

Oh man when I hear people talk about the LSAT in real life I have to laugh. The other day in class I overheard a girl say that the "game theory section" was really hard lol. After browsing TLS for so long it's easy to forget that ~98% of people score under 170, and, frankly, have no clue what they're doing.nlee10 wrote:If you have time, look up #lsat on Instagram...there's a ton of posts with Kaplan books, lmao.

Thank God we have Kaplan and Barron to keep people from scoring high.nlee10 wrote:Doesn't sound like a troll to me. If you have time, look up #lsat on Instagram...there's a ton of posts with Kaplan books, lmao.RZ5646 wrote:This must be an obvious troll, right?

Lawl. I'm still convinced that I just got lucky, and I'm actually kinda afraid to take another one because I know I won't score as high.gamerish wrote:RZ throwing shade. Those PTs scores are having their effect.

I feel bad for the Barron's guy. Started a thread in the expert section and nobody responded. At least people paid attention to the KU dean. Better to be trolled then to be ignored.Clyde Frog wrote:Thank God we have Kaplan and Barron to keep people from scoring high.nlee10 wrote:Doesn't sound like a troll to me. There Are a few places. First, you can buy a ton in book format off amazon.Formerpremed wrote:Where is the best place to get practice tests?

There are 4 or 5 out now.
For the newest tests I like to get them here:

Others like Cambridge.
In terms of Prep, I would say buy the LSAT trainer. To learn games, a lot of people swear by the powerscore bible. My opinion is that its a little outdated.
You can get the Cambridge lsat packets and then go on 7sage to see how the games should be solved.
Communicate now with those who not only know what a legal education is, but can offer you worthy advice and commentary as you complete the three most educational, yet challenging years of your law related post graduate life.

IF you are going to buy 7 sage, I would recommend you creating an account(free) and see what kind of course best suits you and also what material they include. This way you don't end up wasting money.

Rule of thumb for LSAT prep books: if they sell it at Barnes & Noble, don't buy it.

Yes. I do like Dave Hall's persona and teaching style so if I were starting from scratch with an online course, I would probably go with Velocity.Clearly wrote:Velocity lsat online course.
