Doubting yourself after practice exams?
I just got a 167 on a timed practice exam and my last practice exams besides that have been 165, 166, 171, and 163. However, despite these great scores (for me), I am having a tough time accepting my improvement. Last time I averaged 161 on practice tests and got a 155 on the actual exam, very underwhelming. How can I accept these improvements and know they are legit? The only thing is that in the back of my mind, I may have seen some of these questions before in past practice.

No one here can say some sage stuff and you all of a sudden be care free. You're gonna drive yourself crazy if you keep thinking about this though. Your average is up, your score will be up. Maybe you saw some of the questions before, but it's probable that you didn't. You're clearly getting better, so keep doing what your doing.

Part of the benefit of drilling is pattern recognition - especially for LG. You're supposed to say "Oh, I know how to do this." It's a good thing.

prepping is a roller coaster ride. for every good day you'll have 2 bad ones and an average one. It gets to the point where your mind gets numb to the bad days because they are too frequent. Like a pro athlete, just have short term memory loss and chill.Rstein888 wrote:I just got a 167 on a timed practice exam and my last practice exams besides that have been 165, 166, 171, and 163. If you mimic test day conditions as much as you can (no leeway for time, somewhat noisy place to study etc) your PT scores should closely approximate your actual score (barring extraordinary test day conditions).
So focus on that, take PTs in Starbucks etc.
