book ID: kaplan big orange book

Post by yepuhhuh » Fri Dec 12, 2014 6:38 am

pithy pike talks about Kaplan's big orange book (out of print, which seems to be a bad thing to pithy pike). i have a copyright 2001 "LSAT Home Study Book" with the title written in orange on the front (by Kaplan).

do i have the golden orange ticket?

yes i know. i was surprised to see their materials recommended in 2 of the guides. i have others. but i thought maybe there's strength in not burning (no pun intended) real games which could later be used in PTs.

i'm pretty sure, btw, that i do not have the big orange book.

kaplan's probably good for experimentals. i didn't pay for the book i have. i have some good ones and lots of reals, fwiw.

This has been superseded by the Cambridge packets. Don't look for the big orange book or anything like it; its only purpose in the pithypike guide is to pull practice questions from, not advice. Just do Cambridge + PT's

But one eventually runs out of real LSAT q's.... I'm using a Cambridge, but a bit sad that's 20 PTs that will now be useless for me in terms of full timed PT....

But drilling is just as beneficial as full timed PT'ing.

I'd say drilling is at least as useful as PT's, probably a lot more so. 37 PT's is way more than enough, leaving the first 40 for drilling a la Cambridge packets.

Also, the big orange book does contain real LSAT q's, not that you'd ever want to practice with anything else. Cambridge packets are superior in that they are explicitly only from the first 38 tests, leaving the later 39 tests unseen for PT'ing
