How much prep is needed?
I took my first LSAT practice test (LSAT Preptest 65) and score a 166. I only missed two questions on the LR section but nearly bombed the LG section. What books/study materials would you guys recommend buying in order to boost my score up to the high 170s. Also noted, I am a sophomore in college so I have plenty of prep time before the actual LSAT.

3-5 months.
Get powerscore LG bible.
That's all you really need. Do lots of reading between now and then. Economist, etc.
There might be other great resources but I only used the LG bible and Kaplan 180.

I would aim for the Sept/Oct 2015 test. With such a high diagnostic score, you only need a few months to study as the previous post mentions. Focus on getting a high gpa in school and you can just study the LSAT during the summer.

Ok thank you! I will be getting the Powerscore Bible. Also there doesn't need to be any additional focus on GPA (Cum of 3.87)

3.87 =\ 4.0 ... just saying, and ur current gpa isnt a fixed number... Not saying to ignore LSAT and go school crazy, but dont forget you still have over 2 years of college that gets factored into your gpa, anything can happen... Take it nice and slow, read the bibles/trainer/whatever books you get and do some drilling here and there but dont ignore your ug work for LSAT that is so far awayKobsky wrote:Ok thank you! ETA: after posting this I seriously regretted not making the "3.87 =\ 4.0" a flaw/LR type scenario but too lazy to go back and do it

Thanks for the advice. I was thinking a PT every two weeks with about 5 hours of LSAT prep a week should suffice.Jgoods wrote:3.87 =\ 4.0 ... just saying, and ur current gpa isnt a fixed number... assuming thats without including the PT/review lol since the 2 together will be more than 5 in itself... also I dont recommend doing PT's so early... or atleast timed. Do untimed sections (can still time but more keep track of how long it takes rather than limiting time) which will allow you to see the questions you dont grasp rather than questions you may have overlooked under time pressure... with ur diag score you are in a good position, get your accuracy down and by time you should start timed PT your untimed should be high 170's IMOKobsky wrote:Thanks for the advice. Thank you for your help.
