September 2014 Logic Games
I had to make educated guesses on the last 3-4 questions because I ran out of time which really bothers me as this is my best section. But I thought everything else went fine.
Anyone else run out of time or feel betrayed that there wasn't even a single easy game?

The first game was really easy... Those EDIT (allowed?) really simplify it, because once you do EDIT... The third game I had to guess with respect to an inference that I was unable to draw (and still couldn't)...The Avatar wrote:I had to make educated guesses on the last 3-4 questions because I ran out of time which really bothers me as this is my best section. I had an experimental LG... I knew those were too easy to be the real ones.

Re: September 2014 Logic Games
I had the same exact problem. I also got "stumped" (or rather I didn't want to waste too much time) on two of the questions on Game 2 so I moved on to Game 3. I found that Games 1 and 3 were easy, but I spent a lot of time on them, and Games 2 and 4 were a little harder for me. I also ended up guessing on the final 3 questions of Game 4 as well as two questions on Game 2 (which really annoys me because I don't recall ever guessing on questions that early).

Okay... didn't do it purposefully. Wow, I didn't even know we couldn't discuss that. It seems so tangential, and I didn't even reveal what type of games they were.soj wrote:No. Don't do that again.Oskosh wrote:allowed?

Re: September 2014 Logic Games
I have a question... when the test is disclosed, can we talk about the experimental section games, or are those forever forbidden from being discussed unless they appear (if they ever do)?
Also, I thought it was okay because yesterday I saw some posts directly mentioning questions, which I thought was way off limits... So I thought what I did was modest. :p

Re: September 2014 Logic Games
Ah, I get it, then. I don't fully understand why it's forbidden, but I do under that it is forbidden. When I mentioned what I did, I thought it was okay because it didn't delimit which TYPE of game it was... Does that make sense?soj wrote:We need to be careful about experimental games because many of them will reappear on future tests. You can mention the broad subject matter of games to identify which section is experimental, but you can't post anything about the mechanics of the game.
OK:
The dinosaur game was real.
All the parallel reasoning questions in that LR section were really hard.
Not OK:
The dinosaur game was a linear sequencing game.
The mauve dinosaur is in.
For that must be true question, you just need to figure out the contrapositives.
I don't know what you mean by posts directly mentioning questions, but if the above doesn't explain why those posts were allowed, feel free to link me to the posts. We might have missed some in the deluge of test-day posts.
Also, I'm glad you specified about the bouquet game... I was going to make that comparison, but I knew THAT was risking it. THanks.

Yea my LG performance destroyed a pretty damn good performance I had going. My only hope is to get the most un-TLS-like 165+ ever by acing LR and RC but bombing games.

Game one took me close to 9 minutes. However I think that I finished game 2 in close to 4 minutes and made my time back up. Still had to guess on 2 questions in game 4 however.

Re: September 2014 Logic Games
They were all above average in difficulty (except the first one... I think?) which is why the curve is gonna be more than people think. I'm usually pretty good at LG and finish around 30 min, but this one I was only at #22 when the proctor gave the 5 min warning. Feel confident in all my answers, but took the bouquet game really slow. I don't think i completely understood it at first, so I forced my way through it. I kept finding multiple answers that seemed to work, so I thought I read something wrong in the stimulus. Think i went -0, but it was a tougher LG section than usual, for sure.
In my personal opinion, this section was harder than June's. June had one tough game and 3 of the more easier games that I've ever seen in LG. All of these were a little tougher imo

It seems when the test was first over, a lot of people were saying it'll be a really rough curve, but lately a lot of the consensus seems to be shifting towards a more lenient curve. So I'm hoping you're right in that the curve is going to be more than people think.ilikebaseball wrote:They were all above average in difficulty (except the first one... I've browsed most of the forums outside TLS on discussion of the September 2014 Lsat and consensus seems to be that, even the best logic games takers who normally go -0 to -2 struggled with this test's LG. So I hope so too.dontdoitkid wrote:It seems when the test was first over, a lot of people were saying it'll be a really rough curve, but lately a lot of the consensus seems to be shifting towards a more lenient curve. I went the LG very easy, I finished with about 5 minutes left and was able to double check everything I wasn.t 100% sure about. I typically ace LG, but now after reading what everyones been saying I'm all nervous I might have read a rule wrong or something lol. I should have just taken the test and forgot about it till I got my score... -_-

As well I spoke to some Lsat tutors who said many of their students struggled with the logic games on this test.
I didn't find the individual games hard, but together they were just time-consuming to complete.

Really? LG is my worst section and I found these to be incredibly straight-forward.The Avatar wrote: I've browsed most of the forums outside TLS on discussion of the September 2014 Lsat and consensus seems to be that, even the best logic games takers who normally go -0 to -2 struggled with this test's LG. How did you all prepare? I was expecting hell, so I drilled Cambridge's Miscellaneous and Difficult, and did every game in there at least twice, some upwards of five times. I ask because I'm not quite sure if I was missing something special about these games. Concerned I may have done something incorrectly.
I hope everyone is right anyway. I'd love a more lenient curve.

Re: September 2014 Logic Games
The LG section took a mental toll on me because I knew how to do them but had major timing issues, panicked, and had to guess for an entire game (didn't realize how much pressure I would feel when the proctor called the 5 minute warning). I think I actually would have felt better about it if the games were harder - it's very frustrating to know you have the ability to complete something but find yourself unable to. As I mentioned in another thread, I completed the writing section in tears (I may be the one person to actually get rejected on the basis of my essay as it was probably nonsensical).
Seeing that a few other posters had the same issue has made me feel better, at least a bit. Kudos to those who were able to fly through LG. Good luck to all of us

I guess it's 50/50, some did well on it, some did not.

I am in the same boat. Had 4 great sections until the 5th: LG. Until the 5th section, I was looking at 170+ easy. LG dashed my hopes. Now, if I have almost perfect returns on LRs and RC, I might still get a 170+ score. It is possible. That is my hope! I have developed expertise in LR and RC, but LG eludes me. Two more months to nail it! Nail it I will!
