Currently scoring 155. Are the 170's possible for Dec LSAT?

Post by goddard24 » Wed Sep 03, 2014 10:24 am

Guys, I only scored a 155 on my first PT this june, since Ive once again started back studying for the LSAT. I originally started studying in July of last year, but decided to wait till I graduated to devote as much time as possible to the test.

That being said, I'm aiming for the 170's and wanted to know if it is possible to attain in the three months until the Dec test date. Just so you know, since scoring the 155 PT back in july of this year, I've been completing the testmasters hw and supplying with the bibles. Any advice is genuinely appreciated.

I think most people on here are going to tell you that it's possible with lots of time spent studying. The strategy that's worked best for me so far is reading Powerscore Bibles and then using Cambridge packets by type to drill. I add in 1-2 PTs a week, but I know many people do more than that.

Of course it's possible. Just depends on whether you work enough to improve. A lot of people score in the 150s on their diagnostic. By the way, was it timed or untimed?

This was a timed PT. just to clarify, I've taken testmasters course in the past, but decided not to take the LSAT last October, due to a hefty class schedule. Still having some trouble in timing.

Sure it's possible if 1) you're capable of getting 170 (need to honestly assess your capabilities here) and 2) put in the effort.

So do some soul searching to see if you're smart enough (in terms of relevant skills) and if you're willing and able to put in effort.

Have people improved from mid 150's to 170's in 3 months of study? Yes, plenty of times as evidenced here on TLS. Don't confuse that with it happens most of the time. TLS is nowhere near a representative sample, and many of the posters here are exceptionally intelligent and/or work exceptionally hard.

Can you improve from mid 150's to 170's in 3 months of study? No idea. Only 2 or 3 people out of 100 will ever score in the 170s. It's not simply just a matter of putting in the time. Do you believe you're capable of this? Only you know for sure.

Thanks for all the replies. In regards to time spent studying my Mon-Fri consists of 4hrs/day. While I do 5-6hrs Sat and Sun.
Would love to get your feedback on what point should I start introducing the PTs?Also, is there a purpose to taking at least 1 untimed PT? Was planning on taking 1 this Sat.
