Reading all answer choices?

Post by WeeBey » Tue Aug 26, 2014 9:14 am

In LR I usually get 3 wrong, usually 1 always due to time constraints at the end. I finish the first 15 in about 18 minutes and especially on 26q lr sections I end up rushing the last one or not getting back to the one PR question I get wrong.

In the first 15 there are some questions where I have a real good understanding on the stem, and get an answer that I'm 100% sure about, usually easy flaw, paradox, point of disagreement questions. Those questions can make up about 5 of the first 15 and I believe if I choose my answer and ignore the next 2-3 answer choices, I could save enough time to comfortably finish the section. I know generally it's not the best but in these situations is it okay?

I'm wondering about this too. There are times when I predict TCR almost exactly and search for it in the ACs. If I'm vigilant about parsing the wording of the AC and matching it against the stimulus again, is this such a bad strategy? I only do it when I'm very very certain.

I dont think reading every choice wastes THAT much time... cuz I mean if you understand the flaw/question stem that well you should sorta know what you are looking for anyway.

That being said, I had a similar thought a few weeks ago. It seems out of the first 11 questions, most are pretty straight forward, but from like 12 to 21, its almost never the obvious choice. If I get to 12 and I see an obvious answer I always say to myself "that cant be it" so I read the rest.

YES to:
Main Conclusion, Necessary Assumption, Sufficient Assumption, Complete the Passage/Argument, Disagree/Agree

TRY NOT TO to:
Must Be True, Most Strongly Supported, Cannot be True, Principle

DON'T to:
Flaw, Strengthen, Weaken, Except

Actually, the only absolute "yes" should be "main conclusion", if you are not in a terrible rush, try to read every answer choice since there are more and more trapping ones now..
