BOOKS BOOKS BOOKS!

Post by ChabelyValera » Sun Aug 17, 2014 11:28 pm

Hey fellow people, so I've decided I'm going to take the LSAT for december 2015 (I know it's a long way to go, but I've put it off twice now so I'm anticipating way before the time arrives) I need help from all of you! :) So far I have all the LSAT tests, except for the upcoming ones and the February 2014 and June. I need some advice on what books I should get. I'm not taking a prep course ($$$ cause of money) I have Powerscore LG, and I was told Manhattan LR and RC are the best but which ones exactly? Also the LSAT Trainer and some drills from Cambridge. Please help! Thanks :) Also I would like to know of a general review type book before I actually begin studying if theres any.

I would buy newer editions of Lsat prep books for next year so wait until then. You don't need more than 4-6 months max.to study for this test.

Why are you shooting for December 2015? You probably don't need more than six months of diligent study and you definitely don't need more than a year.

These are the books I purchased:

10 LSATs, 19-28
10 LSATs, 29-38
LSATs Deconstructed, 43-45
10 LSATs, 52-61
Individual LSATs, 71, 70, 69, 68, 67, 65, 64, 62
Official LSAT Superprep
LSAT Logic Games Bible
LSAT Logic Games Workbook
LSAT Reading Comprehension Bible
LSAT Logic Reasoning Bible
LSAT Trainer

As already stated, purchasing books so far in advance is probably not advised. I got the majority of these in January, only to find the Trainer and Bibles had new versions out by the time I finally cracked open *one* book. I've also realized I would have been better off getting a couple of these on Kindle or PDF--like the RC Bible--because they involve way more reading than anything else. It's only my preference. Having the actual books in hand help at my job since it actually requires me to get away from electronics and read quietly.

As far as the tests, I'll be getting more up until the December 2014 LSAT if anything for max preparation. February 2015 will be here before I know it.

I highly recommend the Blueprint Games book. I'd buy it closer to prep time, since they may update it.

The Manhattan guides are great -- just get the latest. They were updated this year in June or July. I'd be surprised if they were updated again next year. Kindle versions are $10 each.

Definitely check out the free 7sage games videos, once you start studying.

The entire 7sage course may be an option that works for you, since it's not too tough on the wallet. :) (I haven't seen what's inside, but the games videos are pure gold.)

Read jeffort's posts on the three stages of prep and leave plenty of time after you've learned the material to practice and do deep review. That's where the magic is.

Best of luck!
