What score should I expect after a 165 try?
I got a 165 on the June administration, before which I studied for like four months with Bible, Manhattan and a lot of PTs. I even hit an average PT score 178 in the last month, I seriously don't know why I bombed the RC section (-10...
) Anyway, I have decided to retake, but I don't know what score I could possibly get, especially due to the fact that I really don't know what I should do to prep for a retake.. Has anybody retaken LSAT after a 165, mas o menos? How did it go? And any suggestions on how to prep for retake? Thanks a lot!

u should expect to score around your pt average
its very unusual for someone who was scoring nearly perfect to miss almost 20 questions all of a sudden
anyway, do this imo:

I know right! But I totally bombed one Reading Comp passage and one game, which I am usually quite good at. I know a friend who had a 167 for the first time and had a 177 the second time with almost no prep during these two administrations.. I just don't get it.Nova wrote:u should expect to score around your pt average

And thank you! I'm gonna check that out.Nova wrote:anyway, do this imo:

If you're PTing around 178 then I think you should expect 175-180 on test day. And frankly, even if you hit 175 on your next test I would still recommend taking it a third time to try and get into the upper 170's. Don't sell yourself short.

Let's hope a-third-time-take not be necessary.Nomo wrote:If you're PTing around 178 then I think you should expect 175-180 on test day. And frankly, even if you hit 175 on your next test I would still recommend taking it a third time to try and get into the upper 170's. Don't sell yourself short.

Just a little extra advice. If you're scoring at that level it means you know the LSAT. Perhaps you should dedicate some time and energy to preparing yourself for test day. Take PTs in less than ideal environments, etc.
Basically try to control all relevant factors to test day that you can control. How much coffee to drink without needing w bathroom break before the break, etc.

The first section was RC, that kinda destroyed me since relatively speaking my weakest part is RC.. I should probably put more RC-as-section-one PTs during my prep. Thanks for the advice.meegee wrote:Just a little extra advice. If you're scoring at that level it means you know the LSAT. Yeah, it sounds like the pressure of test day got to you. You know the material, so as meegee said, prepare for test day distractions, try taking tests early in the morning, following the routine you would for test day, etc.fixnroll wrote:The first section was RC, that kinda destroyed me since relatively speaking my weakest part is RC.. I went from 165 --> 171 from an October to December administration. All I did between getting my score from October and the test in December was a few PT's. Focus on problem areas and go in relaxed. Feel free to PM

Sounds like one tough passage and one tricky game was the difference. There is always a degree of randomness in your scores just based on different content. The person who scores a 180 on one test will get stumped by a logic game on another. Don't beat yourself up too much -- hopefully your retake swings up on the higher end of your score range. I wouldn't worry about doing anything drastically different to prep. I think you can chalk some of this up to chance.fixnroll wrote:But I totally bombed one Reading Comp passage and one game, which I am usually quite good at.
