June LSAT Law school emails?
I know this has been asked before, but I couldn't find a recent thread so I'm creating one.
I'm getting a couple of congratulations emails and invitations to apply from Law schools after my June LSAT score was released. Is this an indication that my score is good enough for the school? Or is this a random process?
I"m asking this because I've received an email from WUSL, while my lsat score is 160 and GPA is 3.16 (McGill Engineering), which is below their median as reported on lawschoolnumbers.

Re: June LSAT Law school emails?
I got emails from law schools congratulating me on taking the LSAT and encouraging me to apply to their schools. I signed up for June and delayed until September. That should answer your question.

What about if you get emails from schools stating the score you made and telling you that you qualify for a scholarship? I didn't even apply to them....

lol, from TTT or worse law schools right? Back when I took the LSAT (a long time ago) and scored 177, after scores were released I received acceptance letters with scholly $$ offers from some schools (mostly TTT and below) I didn't apply to, some from schools I hadn't even heard of before.KAYCEE wrote:What about if you get emails from schools stating the score you made and telling you that you qualify for a scholarship? You should apply. A 3.16 in Engineering is very solid. It equates to a 3.6/3.7 in a major like Sociology. You'll get a bump because your major is one of the more demanding ones. If you can retake in October and raise your score by 5-7 points you'll obviously be in a better position. I would strongly advise you to consider doing that.mohdban wrote:I know this has been asked before, but I couldn't find a recent thread so I'm creating one.

It appears that WUSTL is being extremely aggressive this year - more aggressive than most schools - because they want to make sure they get the best students they can, but that has no bearing on your prospects. I'm not saying you won't get in even with the 160, but I wouldn't chance it.

uhh.. no. Where did you get the idea that 3.16 in Engineering equates to 3.6/3.7 in Sociology? That is just plain false. And more likely than not, your choice of major will not give you a significant bump. This is been proven over and over again.PDaddy wrote:You should apply. A 3.16 in Engineering is very solid. I got a fee waiver email from WUSTL as well and my lsat score is way below their median. I wouldn't think too much of it but in your case it may be worth an application.

This is false. How do you have 2,000+ posts and think this is TCR?PDaddy wrote:mohdban wrote:I know this has been asked before, but I couldn't find a recent thread so I'm creating one.

OP, with your current numbers you're not getting into WUSTL. Retake the LSAT for sure, and with a 3.16 WUSTL may be one of your best options considering their splitter-friendliness.

Re: June LSAT Law school emails?
Do not read in to schools emailing you to apply. If you want to apply and you get a waiver, definitely go for it, but don't think that this means you have better chances at getting in than your numbers would suggest. I had a 160 and got an email from Harvard midway through the application cycle last year...

Re: June LSAT Law school emails?
Well, I do have a full scholarship from my sponsoring company, so that might increase my chances a bit?
Also, I'm planning to go to law school in 2015, the email says that if I apply to WUSL and get accepted, I can roll my admission to 2015. Should I apply for the sake of applying? I do plan to retake the lsat for a higher score in September though ...
