7sage games question

Post by WeeBey » Mon Jul 07, 2014 2:21 am

Im currently drilling LG by type, some on the basic linear im getting in 6-8 minutes (which i feel great about since since the lgb says to allow 8:45 for each) however, in the beginning of a game explanation the guy says 'this is a 5 minute game' which drives me nuts.

my game timing is pretty bimodal either around 7 minutes or 13 minutes (if it takes me a long time to make any inferences.)

My accuracy is high, -2 total over my last 10 games. but i spend like 2 minutes reading the question and the rules and diagramming and writing out the rules. another minute making inferences then (after 3 minutes) do i finally start on the questions.

I do not see a question here...

sorry, here are my two questions:

1. When he says 5 minute game, does that mean you should finish the game in 5 minutes in order to be able to also finish the other 3.

2. Am i spending to much time reading, diagramming and making hypos and inferences ( 3minutes before i even touch the questions).

1. You'd have to ask him exactly what he means by that, but I assume he means for well prepped people operating with very strong LG skills/high level of mastery of the section type for the difficulty level of the game in terms of how quickly it could be solved. I wouldn't think he means it for people while they're in the processes of learning/building up their skills. But again, that's just my opinion and you'd have to ask him to know for sure.

2. No, you are approaching it properly. Time invested up front on the set-up plus figuring out deductions (as long as it is productive/fruitful time rather than time spent staring at the page frozen like a deer caught in headlights or trying to write out too many scenarios/possibilities) is important and pays off since you can use it to solve the questions much more efficiently with much less additional work rather than having to brute force a bunch of hypos because you didn't figure out key deductions. Keep drilling the way you are and make sure that during review to evaluate how you could have been more efficient with all aspects of the game and questions to help refine your methods/approach. Doing a lot of that with review and making adjustments is a big part of how you get faster as a byproduct of proper review and implementing knowledge gained from review of every game/question you do.
