Some serious questions about LSAT prep for September.

Post by DSD2013 » Thu Jul 03, 2014 2:12 pm

Hey everyone,

Last year I began preparing myself for logic games. I took three months and mastered most of the concepts. I am now down to -2/ -3 time on logic games on PT 1-40. I have been drilling Logical Reasoning questions for one month now after learning a number of techniques from prep books and I am 75% done with the cambridge 1-40 LR packet and have been getting around 80% of the questions right on most sections with an occasional 90% right on other sections. These have been untimed but I have been finishing most questions fairly quickly. I plan to be done with the cambridge packet (finish all questions and understand why I got each wrong questioin wrong) by July 16th. I am also retaking games sections from 1-40 in the meantime so that my skills stay where they are.

My reading comprehension from PT 1-40 generally ranges from -6 to -10.

Question: When should I begin taking preptests 41- onwards? Would July 17th be late if I am taking the test in September or is that ideal? Should it be 1 test a week, 2, 3, etc?

I have been putting so much time into drilling because I know that this is the most important part. Also note that I have no classes to take right now and am off work for the entire time I am studying for the September 2014 test. Am I moving in the right direction?

Thanks.

Hi,

Nice work on your efforts so far, and it seems like they have been paying off for you.

I am on a similar schedule to you as far as using PT 40 onwards in preparation fro the Sept test. I'll share with you my attitude towards the time frame.

If I am ready by September, then I'll take the Sept test. If I'm not, big whoop! It's 80 bucks to move it to Dec. And while 80 bucks isn't chump change, it is compared to the tens of thousands of scholarship money a good LSAT score comes with.

If you don't get to all the PTs, you can either take and plan to retake (this is dangerous in the sense that you can only take the LSAT three times in two years) or you can just delay your test date.

You friends and maybe family will give you shit about moving you test date if you need to. But they don't understand. TLS understands. TLS knows that feel.

180 response by Louis. I feel that the LSAT is a beast that most people are best conquering slowly but actively.

I think Louis' response is the best I've seen in almost a year. My friends and family have given me so much shit for studying/cancelling/studying.

Whenever the give you shit, just say, "if you can lend me 250k so I can not study as hard, I will absolutely take you up on that. Otherwise, I'll just study my way to pay for that instead."
