December LSAT and enrollment in 2016 Forum

Hi, everyone. I am deadset on going to a state law school whose in state tuition is much more affordable than its out of state. It requires a year of residency before applying to qualify for that rate. If I take the LSAT in December, and wait until the next year to apply, is that too long to wait? Scores are good for five years, but I'm wondering if a stale score will hurt my chances. Also, what's a good study schedule to have when one works eight hour days? It's been over a decade since I've taken a test of this nature. Thanks!

I work from 10 am to 6 pm so getting up and studying for a few hours is possible. I'm just not a morning person. Would an hour a day for the first three months suffice, then kick it into high gear for the last three? I'm a bit worried about taking the December test (I've heard it's the hardest). My aim is at 170, but I need at least a 165 to get into this school (3.56 undergrad GPA). Both scores seem impossibly high at the moment (I looked at a test question and my mind went completely blank). I'm thinking about not taking cold test until I'm three months out, see where I'm at and focus on my weak spots for the last three. A month out meet with a tutor, or is a month too close?

Are you aware that law schools offer merit scholarships up to and exceeding the full cost of tuition? I know this is a question about studying for the LSAT but you should probably do more research about school options and expand your search beyond a single school.

With a 3.56 GPA my outlook for a full ride to a good second tier school isn't that bright. And I'd be shooting myself in the foot if, God forbid, I don't do well in my first year. I wouldn't be able to incur a lot more debt since I already have a lot for undergrad. The employment outlook for this school is very high- I'd rather get into some debt with a chance of landing a job than no debt but no employment. Unless I'm thinking about this the wrong way?

Upon reviewing this school compared to a lot of others, this school scored significantly higher in employment and type of employment. However, the average GPA is 3.64, so I need to knock the LSAT out of the park.

Let's just hope six months of studying with a full time job can get me there! I do much better with immediate deadlines, so I hope I don't push it off until the last minute. 167 seems like there's very little room for error.

^ I wouldn't go that far. There is a BIG difference between a 167 and a 170, despite how close the numbers look. A 167 is roughly 16 or so wrong (I think) while a 170 is roughly 10-12 wrong. Obviously, it depends on the test.
