Hey Guys,
I just scored 157 on PT LG -7 LR -16 (10/6) RC-12. (-15 curve test) (NO GUESSING so when i run out of time i leave blanks) Im wondering whats a realistic gain for the Sept LSAT. Im hoping 170. I did PT 2 with guessing and got 162.
On LG, i went 4/6, 5/6, 7/7, and 1/7(got the first question), then ran out of time, I skimmed through the first LGB pdf and all i took from it was the diagram map, I just ordered the new real one and the LG by type 1-38 by cambridge.
On RC i only got through 3/4 passages got 15/21, by best RC section. I usually i do well -1/-2 or so on each passage and than get slammed by the humanities section.
On LR however for the first section i got 15/21 that i completed and blanked the rest, for the second section, i decided to try and speed up i got through 19/22 and left the last 3 black.
However my issue with LR is that it got worse after reading the digital LRB. I know right?! Before I read it i was getting -10/12 combined wrong (I once even got -2). i also did a few timed section and going at my own pace, I got a -6 wrong in about 42 mins (horrible). I hear manhattan LR is better but i wanna wait a bit and drill more sections before I invest in that.
Currently I have PTs 1-65, PT explanations 1-65, Logic Games by type Cambridge, Manhattan RC just arriveed in yesterday morning, Im waiting on PS LGB the new edition (still shipping), and will prolly buy the Manhattan LR and 401 difficult questions.
I hear LG and LR get easier on the new tests but im worried since they say RC harder, which im already crappy at.
What do you guys suggest? and do you think 170 is achievable in 3 months?

Re: Realistic LSAT gain for september
You can definitely get to 170 in 3 months. If you're scoring 157 and 162 without being able to do each section in its entirety, then imagine how well you could do if you actually finished each section!
It's all a matter of practice to improve how quickly you complete each section, especially the logic games. Just keep doing practice tests, but make sure to read any study guides if you feel that you're not sure how to approach the different types of problems in each section (I personally use the powerscore bibles and have seen my score dramatically improve with their strategies).
Other than that just focus on the mistakes you made for the questions that you did manage to attempt.
Good luck!

How long should RC passages take? It takes me close to 4.5 mins using the strategies in the MLSAT RC to finish a passage, however my accuracy really improved only getting 1 wrong (usually careless mistake, on a local question.Dede93 wrote:You can definitely get to 170 in 3 months. By "4.5 mins to finish a passage" I'm assuming you mean to just read the passage? If that's the case, you just have to read it faster. Unless the passage is particularly dense and confusing, it usually only takes me a maximum of 2 minutes to read an individual passage. I know it seems counterintuitive to speed through the passage if you don't understand it all, but in my experience, it's possible to get 100% on an individual passage without understanding the entire passage after the initial reading. When you read a question, and feel like you have to go back to the passage, skim through until you find what you feel is the relevant section to that particular question, and only then feel free to read that section until you understand what the section says.
Unfortunately, reading comprehension is very different from LG and LR in that you can't really read a guide to help you all that much with it; the more you read the better your reading comprehension gets. It's that simple.
Having said that, if your current strategy is resulting in you only getting 1 question wrong per passage, I'd say keep doing what you're doing. As you said, it's usually just a careless mistake, which means you can't really do anything to fix that, with the exception of being more vigilante in the future. Just remember, the more you practice, the more likely you are to improve.
