What to do if I exhaust all my prep material?????

Post by rbrown0824 » Tue Jun 03, 2014 11:39 pm

Hello all!! I'm thinking ahead to a dilemma that I could be facing soon. I don't plan on taking the LSAT until I am ready and confident, which could be September 2014, December 2014, February 2015, or June 2015. I will be taking on one of these dates for sure, but my issue is that I could potentially run low on materials the longer that I draw out my studying. I currently have all the prep tests and all powerscore bibles, plus the lsat super prep. I'm currently averaging about one full prep test per day, which at this rate won't last me but 70 something days. I'm wondering if there is a way to still find value in the tests after I've taken them. I realize that my scores become artificially high after I take them because I don't require as much time to solve the questions after I have seen the answers once already (I'm currently judging from my ability to recognize powerscore questions that have been repeated on actual pt's). I'm just wondering if anyone else had any experience using repeat tests?

Don't take one pt a day first of all. You want to take a pt, review what you got wrong, identify trends in what kind of problems you're missing, then study and drill those problem types and repeat. This should take you at least a few days. You won't be getting the most out of your limited pts otherwise.

I personally wouldn't take 1 per day for 71 days straight. You are bound to burn out at some point. But to answer your question, redoing old tests has value. The LG sections are especially worth repeating multiple times. The LR and RC sections are worth repeating to a lesser degree, as long as you fully think the questions through instead of picking an answer just because you remember it to be correct.

Everyone on this site warns others about doing 1 PT a day. I thought I was different, I thought that I was better then that. Nope, the longest streak I had was 5 before I couldn't even finish 1/2 a test

Ugh do NOT take one test every day that is ludicrous.

Figure out when you want to enroll. Work backwards. Aim for the June before you plan to apply so you have plenty of time to retake.

Work through all the books. drill by question type. Take PTs. Review review review review.

You shouldn't get taking full PTs at all until like a month into your prep. And at no point should you be taking more than three a week. That's just wasteful.
