RC suddenly became a problem... Need advice!
I've taken nearly 40 preptests in the past 3 months, which has been all the time I had to study for the upcoming June LSAT. RC was consistently my best section until I started doing the most recent preptests just released, and now makes my scores average around 169 when I was able to achieve 174s regularly before.
I was thinking of checking out the Powerscore RC Bible to maybe change my perspective on the section. Does anyone have any suggestions of how to best go about improving my RC score in the short amount of time I have left before the June 9 test?

What if I find the comparative reading passage fairly easy, and just get confused by certain passages and questions?manu6926 wrote:I was in a similar situation last year and eventually recovered before my test. The more recent RCs with comparative reading are harder and so you need some time to adjust to the new difficulty. I'd suggest you read the Bible's comparative reading section. But then, I think if you are a good reader (if RC is your best section, you are one), you just need to keep going with the more recent tests and adjust. I also recommend reading the "Science and Technology" section of the Economist more often and more intensely.

Can you explain your current rc approach?Bulldogs1 wrote:I've taken nearly 40 preptests in the past 3 months, which has been all the time I had to study for the upcoming June LSAT. I usually read the passage in about 2 mins with a pretty good understanding, then go to the questions and refer back to the passage with each questions.Clyde Frog wrote:Can you explain your current rc approach?
Usually have to guess on one question in the entire section, and the last passage tends to be a hurried one.

I don't think you have as good of an understanding as you think you do if you're spending an average of one minute per question. Make sure that throughout every passage you know who the big players are (advocates, critics ect,) and what they support or disagree with, along with the author's view...don't EVER forget the author's view. You should be able to blast (answer in 20-30 seconds) through 7-10 questions per RC section just by knowing right away what the advocates, critics, and author's opinions are. I usually take around 4-5 minutes per passage and am good on time.Bulldogs1 wrote:I usually read the passage in about 2 mins with a pretty good understanding, then go to the questions and refer back to the passage with each questions.Clyde Frog wrote:Can you explain your current rc approach?

I agree. I'm currently trying 7Sage's RC method to gain a better understanding/short term memory of what I just read.Clyde Frog wrote:I don't think you have as good of an understanding as you think you do if you're spending an average of one minute per question. If I don't do as well as I'd hope on the upcoming LSAT, I'm going to get the PowerScore Bible for RC and take the next LSAT.
I'd appreciate any more tips or specific strategies that worked for anyone else.
