LSAT Accomodated Testing on Alternative Date - Disclosure?

Post by mtg92 » Sat May 24, 2014 1:55 pm

I have been reading on this site for the past few months and found the advice on here helpful, but have yet to post. Anyway, I thought you might be able to lend some insight into the following matter.

I am registered for the June 2014 LSAT and have been approved for some accommodations from LSAT (after sending a package of paperwork that literally was 8 lb). I was contacted by my test center's supervisor (a college employee) who indicated she is able to provide my LSAT accommodations, however would require me to test on an alternative date (about a week after the normal administration) due to space and staffing limitations at her facility.

I contacted LSAC to confirm that everything was cleared by them and they confirmed. They also indicated that my test WILL BE DISCLOSED, before then going on to give their standard spiel on how they don't discuss matters impacting test administration/security. This surprised me since I know make-up test (similar to February tests) are normally non-disclosed.

My question is since my LSAT will be disclosed, what options do they really have in terms of what test to give me.
NOTE: I am not trying to do something here to "game the system" and get advanced access to testing materials or otherwise violate LSAT policies. I am mainly curious how LSAT could give me a valid test yet still disclose it.

My initial thoughts are as follows:

1. They could just give me the same June exam. The actual test will still not be disclosed at the time it is administered, yet it would not create any security issues for them to disclose it to me when they release my score. The number of accommodated test takers on an alternate date might just be so small that LSAT does not care.

2. They could give me an old February exam. This exam is non-disclosed and has a large data sample. I have heard accounts suggesting this is what is done for make-up tests (as well as statements by LSAC suggesting that February exams are not released so they could be used in emergencies). Even if provided with a disclaimer that I am not supposed to distribute, releasing this LSAT to me however defeats the whole purpose of non-disclosing February exams.

3. I can get a random compilation of previously used experimental sections. This would allow LSAC to have some data in order to normalize and score my test, however minimize security impact. These "experimental" sections may then never be incorporated into an actual "regular" future LSAT.

4. Finally, they could just give some type of alternative test form (i.e. international, etc.). This however again poses the problem of LSAC releasing an additional test form that has the potential to just be "floating around there"

Would love to hear your thoughts and insights over what LSAC might do. Thanks!

I don't know which test they will give you but the format should be the same.

Some good news for you is that once the settlement with LSAC goes into effect you should be entitled to get some money from the class action.

I'm guessing #1, unfortunately. The plus side is most test takers that do well enough remember very little about the test itself. Still not fair though, imo, if they give you the exact same test everyone took a week ago. I say option #1 particularly bc it is disclosed. Once it's out there the masses won't see it in a future administration
