Taking the LSAT as a Junior Forum

I been looking around TLS forums for some time researching LSAT prep and I've noticed here and on some other blogs people say you should take the LSAT during June (earliest) or Sept/Oct during senior year. I'm currently a rising junior and have already amassed some reliable prep books and will be getting more. At this time I would have 3 months (uninterrupted) to prepare for the Sept. '14 LSAT and 7 months to prepare for the Dec. '14 test. Is there any advise you could give me on whether or not I should take the LSAT early?

If you feel like you're ready, definitely take it. I have no regret that I took the LSAT in my junior year. Now I can spend the whole summer preparing personal statements and scholarship essays.

I took it early during my junior year. Best thing to do bc I had more than enough time to prep for a retake.

I take the LSAT at the beginning of my junior year, and I'm really glad that I did. I had the entire summer between sophomore and junior year to study.

Take it when you're ready, but don't sacrifice your UGPA, even by a minuscule amount, to study for the LSAT. You can fix the LSAT you can't fix your UGPA.

Yeah that. I took the LSAT in February of my junior year (this past February), and I did worse in one class as a direct result (I decided not to attend some classes that I thought were less worthwhile than LSAT studying). It wasn't disastrous or anything by a long shot, but it's still worse than it would have been had I not been taking the LSAT during the semester.

I would say only take it if you're taking a relatively easy course load. For me, it wasn't just the fact that I was spending many hours studying, but also the anxiety of the impending test that affected my class performance.
