Want to take a class: How effective is BluePrint's Classroom

Post by nerd101 » Wed Apr 09, 2014 7:00 pm

Hi, I'm new. I am interested in the course? Anyone have any experience? It's not too expensive because they have installment plans. I really like heir lg games book. I really helped. They don't have a LR or RC book out. :/ I think of taking the class would really take me where I want to be 170+

150-155; it's been a while since I took it. I have been studying since my diagnostic, but I'm too scared to take a test. I need someone to force me. I feel if I'm in an organized structured class it will be better and my nerves won't be as bad.

I took a BP course. Liked it a lot. Though, I heavily supplemented with TLS guides and outside material like Manhattan's LR guide and Cambridge Packets. I was like you and afraid of the whole staying on schedule thing. It definitely helps but still it's up to you to stay on track. You won't get called out for not being up to date or doing homework so really you have to be willing to stay on top of it. They just provide a nice initial framework.

I found towards the last half of the course I just started using the online lectures instead of going to the classes because 1) they were a 30 minute drive away and I had early university classes the next morning and 2) I was allowed to go at my own pace rather than wait for 50 other people to be caught up or understand something. (just the nature of a prep course trying to please 50 individual learners).

FWIW, I went from a diag of 163 to a real 175 and BP definitely played a hand in that. But do not think you can simply do what they assign and you will be maxing out your potential. I took tons of time outside of the course and given course materials to drill what I was struggling with and I tried lots of other strategies from other companies or people on TLS in order to find what worked for me in different areas of the test.

If you are fine with the cost of a prep course than I definitely recommend them. Please take note of what I said above though and don't rely on any one prep company, TLS strategy guide, or study plan and assume you won't have to make tweaks and figure some things out on your own. If you don't do BP I still highly recommend their LG book. I bought the LG Bible as well, but the methods BP used were far and away better in my mind.

Hi! Glad you liked the book - feel free to PM me if you have any questions I can help with. I can say that our live students average an 11 point increase from their first practice test to the last practice test (among those who take all of the practice tests), but as drevo said, what you get out of the class ultimately depends on what you put into it. That said, I used Blueprint for my own prep and am a big believer in the methods BP teaches, so provided you do the work - and do the work effectively - the course is very effective.
