Staying positive/confident into June

Post by YouOnlyLawschoolOnce » Thu Mar 27, 2014 3:05 pm

Been a lurker for a while, decided to make a post after a few days of disappointing prep coupled with a rough school week. I've enjoyed and gotten a lot out of past threads that deal with things aside from the test and wanted to pose a couple questions:

Past takers: how did you remain positive and confident throughout the study process?
June takers: what are you doing (if anything) aside from prepping to keep grinding away?

Thanks!

I took the February and June tests last year. I cancelled my February score because I knew it was going to be terrible- I didn't sleep at all the night before, was nodding off during the test, and couldn't concentrate enough to read the RC passages. I bawled my eyes out after it was over. I knew I was burning out, so I didn't look at anything LSAT related for two and a half months. I took a class for the February test, and started using the various techniques I learned to schoolwork so I could keep those skills sharp. So for me, I took the "don't think about it" route and gained my confidence when my first PT in May ended up being higher than my previous tests. I think that time away gave me back the energy I needed to tackle it again. I would definitely recommend taking a few weeks off if you feel like you're burning out.

By having a life outside of the LSAT. Seriously, that worked wonders for me. I'm not saying don't study, I'm saying don't obsessively study. For me I felt like when all I focused on was the test, and nothing else, that it was easy to get a negative viewpoint towards it. Balancing LSAT study with positive events kept me much more motivated, and my score reflected that.
