Need Retake Advice—aiming for Sept. '14

Post by Tuxedo » Thu Mar 27, 2014 9:47 am

Looking to retake in September. I have a 164 (Oct. '13) and 165 (Dec. 13', that 165 retake was during a very intense few months, so probably not optimal in that regard).

My original method of study was to take a Kaplan online course which I thought was pretty great (a few high 160s and even low 170s) but come test day those numbers plummeted. I've taken most of the recent practice tests, but I'll be saving this year's February and June tests for just before the September test. Since getting on TLS a couple of months ago I am now aware that Kaplan isn't exactly anyone's favorite on this board.

Please help me with the following questions:

1) What are some of the best retake guides out there?
2) Since I am not opposed to taking a course again, which one do you recommend and why?
3) If you're a retaker that saw success (even after 2 tests) what were some of the methods that helped you boost that score?

I know I'll be somewhat anxious since this test will be the last LSAT that I can take before waiting for another whole year, which is something I just don't really have. I'll be glad to hear any kind of advice that mitigates that anxiety.

Thanks.
