I just read this article: http://www.forbes.com/sites/carminegall ... e-wake-up/
It seems like a lot of successful CEOs exercise, I was curious to see if successful LSAT taker also exercise.

I'm only ~167 right now, so don't take my advice with certainty as it doesn't directly answer your question. BUT, I do make great grades and have a lot of responsibilities and I can say without the necessary vitamins/diet + exercise, I would not be able to function as well as I presently do. All I really do is walk about 3-4 miles a day, so nothing too strenuous, but it gets me some necessary vitamin D and keeps the blood moving. Also, attempt to inhibit your sexual habits. If yours are as severe as mine were, then it absolutely behooves you to limit them.johnnyt wrote:I just read this article: http://www.forbes.com/sites/carminegall ... e-wake-up/

Absolutely. Once you get into the 170s you have a solid mastery of the test, so then it comes down to being at the top of your game focus and speed-wise. Exercise, diet, sleep, and restraining your sexual activity are key to nailing it on test day.

Its a known fact you can't score 170+ without a 3 plate deadlift.

Re: Question for people who scored 170+, do you do exercise?
I feel physical fitness was a huge part in bringing my score from a 163 to a 170. First take, I spent all my time working (commuting to work 1 1/2hr roundtrip) and studying for the LSAT. I ran/lifted maybe once a week.johnnyt wrote:I just read this article: http://www.forbes.com/sites/carminegall ... e-wake-up/

I ended up quitting said job, taking a part time gig within walking distance to my home and had a substantial amount more time to study, work out/run and read/relax. Obviously the increase in study time was the most important factor here, but I feel being able to run/lift in the early morning almost everyday made a big difference because 1. It gave me more physical endurance to continue focusing on tests 2. It greatly decreased stress which helps in a myriad of ways such as better sleep, better concentration and increased confidence. 3. Waking up and getting active at an early time helped me be totally awake and alert by 9 A.M. which helped me peak during test time as opposed to rolling out of bed with no time to spare and chugging redbulls on the way to the testing center as I did my first go around.
I'm dragging on but if you want more specifics of how I incorporated exercise into studying, I'd be happy to share. Alternatively, you can always just buy some Vyvanse/Adderall...

Did my final week of timed section work while on a recumbent bike at the gym. Got a 170. Obvious causation.

If you have bad sexual habits then you are expending a lot of energy towards something that is probably better suited for you later in your life. It can also take up a lot of mental/emotional energy, unless you're completely shallow.Clyde Frog wrote:For real. I dunno, wouldn't cranking one out usually help one's focus afterwards?manillabay wrote: If you have bad sexual habits then you are expending a lot of energy towards something that is probably better suited for you later in your life. ETA: I think it's amusing that you're talking about sexual restraint and started a thread asking about your chances of getting it in at various schools.

170/173, and ran 4-5 miles pretty much every day (including test day).

Before. I would get up around 6:30, run, shower, eat, then hit the library. It really wakes you up and gets you going.

Nothing like a 180 and breaking the 3 minute mile on the same day.
