Is drilling with 7Sage review enough?

Post by poirot » Wed Mar 05, 2014 11:16 am

I read through the PS and MLSAT LG games, but unfortunately they are still my worst area :( I actually haven't been seeing an improvement in games until I started drilling by separating the games by difficulty, printing out multiple copies and reviewing with the free videos online from 7Sage (I think perhaps the 7Sage way just clicks better as it's visual for me?). After I review, I wait for at least a day and then redo the problems multiple times. However, I'm worried that simply reviewing with the 7Sage video isn't enough and maybe I should look at another source for review?

Any thoughts about how to properly drill? I already have all the questions so I don't need to buy separate drilling packets, I'm just worried that I'm not prepping properly/making as much progress as I should be and kind of freaking out as I would like to take the June LSAT. My main problem is timing.

Thanks a lot in advance!

Keep drilling using the 7sage method you've been applying. If you're worried it's not effective, take a PT or an LG section and see which types are giving you the most trouble.

Attack those types with repetitive drilling accordingly.

I went from doing horrendously (~40% accuracy) on LG to it being my best section (90%+ accuracy) and I would recommend the following:

1) Complete/Review LG Bible (Manhattan works well here too). IMO LGB methodology is solid except for relative/pure sequencing, so for these games use the 7sage method of X-Y-Z.

2) Get your hands on prior LG's in order to practice. What crucial here is to order them based on game type (in/out, complex ordering, mixed, etc). Now, in order to reinforce good habits/corresponding mental processes print three copies of each game.

3) You can choose to look over the LGB section on the game type that you are about to do, but the idea is to focus on one game type at a time. First do a game set of, say, all sequencing games, untimed (I did 5 games at a time). Then, review the wrong answers along with the 7sage explanations. I would then work through the second copy - timed.

4) I worked through various sequencing game sets until I was getting -0. Then I moved on to ordering and repeated steps 1 and 2 for that. Now here is where the 3rd copy comes into play. Before moving on from the 2nd game type, complete the 3rd copy of the first game type section. Rinse and repeat.

Sequencing game pack 1 - untimed
-review-
Sequencing game pack 1 - timed
-review-
(repeat for however many game packs are necessary)
Ordering game pack 1 - untimed
-review-
Ordering game pack 1 - timed
-review-
Now before moving on to the next game type, go back to the sequencing for a 3rd and (hopefully) final review.

Once you do this with all the game types you should try your hand at some PT's and reap the benefits.

I bit the bullet and bought all of the existing LG's on Cambridge LSAT (I think it was 90$) and by employing the aforementioned strategy I was able to skyrocket my games score. I'm sure you'll be able to do the same
