Eight Week (Until Feb. 2014) Benchmarks
Obviously everyone is different in their time needed to reach their best possible score and we each have different commitments and hours we can devote per day and week to studying.
That said, I'm curious as to what some of the benchmarks should be when eight weeks from test day. What should we have DOWN?
Here's where I'm at:
Averaging -1 per game and finishing each game in 10 minutes (again, on average).
Still very inconsistent on RC. -3 on some sections, -8 on others.
LR is a mixed bag. There are still some question types that I'm nearly guaranteed to get wrong. Others which I haven't missed since first beginning my prep. I'm going to drill the four questions that stump me until I'm blue in the face, i.e., right up until Feb. 8th, so for the next eight weeks.
Maybe this is a stupid thread idea, not sure. Just hoping to get some reassurance that I'm not the only one out there who has still had lots to catch up on and successfully improved their PT scores by 10 points over the two months leading up to Test Day.

With strict timing:
LR -6 average
LG 0 or -3
RC like -5 or-9
Hoping for 168 by February

...that's close enough to a 170. Why not shoot for 170+?90convoy wrote:With strict timing:

most prep courses last about two months, so the time won't necessarily constrain you. You should think about the test in terms of maxing out your potential score, rather than achieving X score by X date.

If I can get my RC down then I will definitely shoot for 170+. It just seems like every time I get personal bests on LR or LG my RC will be like -9 and just kill my score.Baby_Got_Feuerbach wrote:...that's close enough to a 170. Why not shoot for 170+?90convoy wrote:With strict timing:

Also....at this point in prep should focus be mostly on PTs? I've only taken like 6 could that be my problem?

I would definitely take 2-3 PTs a week at this point, and spend other time drilling games and the types of LR that gave you trouble. Two months is still a lot of time, but it's close enough that you should be increasing your time spent studying,90convoy wrote:If I can get my RC down then I will definitely shoot for 170+. Re: Eight Week (Until Feb. 2014) Benchmarks
I was going to start studying on a regular basis last week but got this flu/head cold crap going around and couldn't think for 5 days while my antibiotic was kicking in. Now I am resetting my time and goals.
LG- Would like -0 to -3
LR- Would like -8 or less TOTAL
RC- Would like -5 or less
I think my biggest struggle will be RC. Since I started studying my RC score has actually regressed while everything else progressed. I have already seen huge gains in LG from only getting 4-5 CORRECT to on average being -7. LR has improved from getting about 35% correct to right about 60% correct. I have a long ways to go in 7-8 weeks and I hope to score as close to 180 as possible, but the medians at my local TT/TTTT schools are between 155-160, so everything above 160 is scholarship $. I refuse to pay sticker at either school.

Yep. I'm in the same situation. I need a guaranteed scholly at either a Tier 3 or 4 because I'm stuck with a full-time job I can't leave.

My current job is only paying about $13.50/hr, but it is considered the best entry level job in town, and lots of people would like to work there. I am there to pay off the smaller debts, but beyond that I do NOT want to be there for any amount of time.
