Nuggets of LSAT Prep Advice found only on TLS Forum

I want to hear about what you've learned on TLS - whether it's something you read from a top scorers, tutors, average scorers, etc - that you didn't encounter much anywhere else in your LSAT preparation. It can be any kind of advice, perspective, approach, strategy, etc. that you feel clarified things for you, gave you a better understanding of the LSAT overall, or a specific section, etc.

This is somewhat geared for preparation for next week's LSAT, so feel free to focus on things that can be used within this week (e.g. mental preparation, sleep schedule, week leading up to the test schedule, diet, etc - but not limited to that).

(Also, if there's anything that gave you greater clarity/a deeper understanding of the LSAT feel free to share it if you'd like, even if it wasn't only found on TLS).

I learned that TLS is not real life in terms of the LSAT.

But that's a good thing as I need something to light a fire under my ass.

You are probably right. Just wasn't sure - that makes sense though.

I learned:

- not to do heavy prep on the days immediately before the test
- to drive up to the test center a couple days beforehand to scope out parking, access, etc.
- to bring a logic game or two and a couple of LR questions to the test as a warm-up
- that the PowerScore Logic Games Bible is a godsend
- that many commercial LSAT prep guides use fake "LSAT-style" questions, rather than real PT questions
- that you will never, ever go wrong taking dozens of practice PTs (even when your friends laugh at you)
- that the time spent prepping for the LSAT is directly proportional to future employment opportunities

ETA: I mean that the standards of what is adequate/sufficient in real life are much lower than anything you'll ever find here, which can seem daunting but it's motivating to me at least to be posting in a place full of people with higher standards.

I have 4 different documents (RC Advice, LR Advice, LG Advice, and Review Advice) totaling about 30 pages of things, most of which I've found on TLS and some I've discovered through my prep work. The info is here, just dig. Here are 3 nuggets I'm willing to share, the first of which I discovered on my own during prep and I can't say I've seen it talked about on TLS or anywhere else.

- One technique the test writers often use to confuse you/lose you on LR and RC is through the use of pronouns. I.e. "These findings" "This theory" Start paying attention to the nouns they refer to and your comprehension will increase.

-"Stalk" the big players (bp shinners, The LSAT Trainer, and Jeffort are ones that come to mind). Not literally, but go and look at their post history and see their answers to questions people asked. You will be amazed at what you learn.

I learned the value of DRILLING.

Drilling a lot makes the lsat so much more predictable! it helps you see patterns and realize its all the same recycled BS over and over.

I learned the value of the Manhattan LR book.

Seriously, that book me got me down to -0/-2 on LR after constantly going -4/-5 on LR after PS LR Bible.
I've seen lots of similar testimonies on TLS about the power of the MLR book.

Manhattan LR. This alone can boost your score a few points.

The materials I used didn't give any specific advice for the two passage RC questions, which I was having trouble with. TLS posters advised me to read one, read the questions and answer any that only concerned the first passage, then read passage 2. I started missing less each time that way.
