I don't understand why the answer is B.
the stimulus says 50 complete sterilizations of a set of nylon instruments required 3.4 times the amount of energy used to manufacture that set of instruments...
Answer B says: More energy was required for each complete sterilization of the nylon instruments than was required to manufacture the nylon instruments"
Than B MUST BE TRUE

Each complete sterilization has to be less than the overall amount of energy used for manufacturing. The two quantities being compared in this answer choice are that of a single complete sterilization vs. the overall amount of energy used to manufacture nylons. If it takes 3.4 times the amount of energy for a complete sterilization then given the ratio in the stimulus (50/3.4), the amount of energy expended for manufacturing overall must be greater than one instance of a complete sterilization.
