Just wrote diagnostic (cold/timed), 157, help

Post by bdeans91 » Tue Jan 29, 2013 4:56 pm

How much do you guys think my score could improve?

I'm looking at Canadian law schools and American, so I want to score at least 168 but ideally in the 170s.

I'm doing PithyPike's plan, should I be able to see a bump of 15-20 points?

Thanks, much appreciated. Trying to not put too much in my diagnostic score.

When are you taking? If you have enough time I think it's definitely possible. My cold diag was a 156 in late July -> 171 in December :)

This forum is filled with individuals who have seen 20+ point gains. You will need at least three months.

A 157 cold is a good sign. The sky's the limit!

Edit: my cold timed diagnostic was ~160 and I got a 172.

I am taking on June 10, 2013 I believe. I will begin the Bibles on Feb 1st.

Mostly making this thread because I don't want to create a self-fulfilling prophecy that my score can't improve.

If it is possible for me to score 175+ I guess I'll aim for that and falling short would still be splendid.

I did a sort of hybrid of Pithypike and NoodleyOne's retaker guide. I went 159 cold diagnostic to 170 with a month's preparation and 177 with 3 more months. You've got plenty of time. 180 is totally within reach.

My diagnostic was 163, and that was with one of the easiest Games sections ever (DEC 1997, probably would have been ~159 with another test). Three weeks later I have hit 169 and 171. You should see a good 5-10 point jump once you acquaint yourself with all the LG/LR types and work through a fair number of problems. Getting from the high 160s into the high 170s is the hard part.

I would also look into the Manhattan LSAT guides. While I thought the bibles were helpful, I'm getting more use out of the Manhattan guides.

I had a cold diagnostic right around there and after working through the LR an LG Bibles, then a month on intense practice test taking, my PT scores are consistently above 173. It's doable, and don't let anyone tell you otherwise!

You'll be fine, I never took a cold but after doing the bibles I scored around 161, and am PTing generally 169-172, and still improving. If you are applying in Canada, most schools will take you with a low - mid 160 score, and for U of T probably around 168 (assuming your GPA is at median). Good luck!

I had a very similar score and got a 15 point bump, so yes.
