It is about $800 for a DVD set of 8 lecutres, each about 1.5 hours. What do y'all think?

Probably not worth it. Look at 7sage as a point of comparison:

You get 50 hours of video, plus question sets and PTs for less money.

I'm also sceptical of a program that 'promises' a 20 point increase in scores.

Why is that relevant? There's plenty of 180ers on TLS. You wouldn't give them money unless they were actually good at teaching the LSAT.
