The 171 Wall

Post by wtrc » Sat Dec 29, 2012 6:04 pm

Pretty much the title says all... I was improving until the last month or two, and am now stuck at a consistent 170-172. LG isn't too much of a problem (still working on timing), LR is a consistent -2 or so per section, and RC (hardest to improve... :/) is -4 to a brutal -8 per section. Has anyone ever topped out at the low 170s and been unable to improve?

Decided to take June, so I got plenty of time. Just frustrating to see an upward trend followed by an extended plateau over 5 or so PTs.

What is wrong with the low 170s?

At least you are not at a 155 wall

5 or so PTs is not a plataue.... keep grinding. At the level youre at, each point is going to take a lot longer to gain.

I have no advice regarding RC though. Sorry. I sucked at it. Good luck!

Have you tried Manhattan RC? It's helped me more than PS: more intuitive, better results, etc.

There's some truth to this... five PTs isn't enough to get a real reading. Basically, keep working at it. Go over the Manhattan RC guide, but also keep track of where you're missing your points and really examine to see the commonalities between the wrong answers. If time is a factor, find out where you're wasting it (be it reading or the questions) and adjust accordingly.
