Took PT 54 today. 94/101, 173 scaled.

-4 Combined on LR, -3 on RC, another -0 on LG.

Didn't miss any weaken questions, which is nice. For once! I think that singlehandedly helped me get over the 170 hump. Besides that random 178 last week, I've gotten 170s on my past few PTs.

Finally getting better and more comfortable with RC. Going to keep working on drilling that though.

IMPROVEMENT IS POSSIBLE! Just keep working at it. My 158 diagnostic is a distant memory... Anyone who says there is a ceiling on your improvement is wrong!!!!

Congrats!! Can you give details as to what exactly you have been working on to get so good at LR/RC?? That is an awesome score to have heading into Feb.

Hah I wish. I suck at games. Always have to make up my points by kicking ass at LR.

Took one test on Tuesday and was completely devastated when I scored a 160. Worst I've scored since my diagnostic back in the summer. Because of that, I took another one today and did a bit better. Still not what I'm aiming for, but I would be happy with it come test day.

yes... got 170 a week ago with a -3 on games. 1 misbubble, 1 misread of question, 1 stupid mistake.

scary to think that it could be a possible outcome on test day, but hopefully i'll be good enough by then that it's not.

I think it's the quality vs the quantity of study. In December, I was drilling games HARD rather than doing full sections because I knew I wouldn't do better than -4 on a full section. Now, anything more than -0 is a huge pet peeve, though even that it's usually a misbubble/misread. Anyways, the point for me has been to learn the fundamentals and all the technical stuff (we want to become lawyers, right?) and then practice them over and over and over again.

FWIW, I got a 160 on the October 2012 test. My last PT was 173 (I understand this is meaningless until actually done in a real examination)

Not quite sure what to make of this since I've taken this test before, albeit quite a few months ago. Does anyone have a general rule as to how much you improve just as a result of taking a test a second time? Perhaps my 'real' score is more like a 168?

At least I aced the LG section, which is usually my weakest. Looks like I need to keep drilling those LR questions!

LR is all about drilling, and understanding what you're getting wrong for specific question types. I review every wrong question and make sure to know why I got it wrong. I think that if anyone had enough time to practice, anyone can get a 180. There are only a finite combination of LR question type permutations. The only ones I really find hard are strengthen/weaken because they aren't as formulaic and you have to think outside the box a lot on them.

RC is still my worst section, but I am working hard to drill them. I try to spend 3 minutes reading, which equates to about 3 seconds a line, which is a LOT of time, so don't rush.

Those who are saying they are struggling to get -2/-3 on LG, my comment above about a finite number of determinations applies there too. When I get curveball games, I create a really small basic setup and then just move directly to questions. I spend under a minute on those setups and kind of make the setup work more for the game questions as I go along. Also, reading the first question will tell you how you should do your setup, 95% of the time. If I am stuck as to which game type it is or what to use as my "base" I read the first question. I have finished the last few LGs with 5-8 minutes to spare.

IMO, training yourself to see which one of the answer choices in S/W q's are neutral/have an unclear bearing on the conclusion can get you down to 2 choices. The *other* choice is usually the opposite of what you're looking for. Just what worked for me, and I've had no problem with S/W questions. (Most Strongly Supported, on the other hand....)

Any re-takers here who've taken one of the more recent administrations (PT66+) can confirm for me if each individual LG was on different pages (As opposed to on opposite sides of the same page)? The PTs are numbered on all-evens but I just did 67 the other day and had it printed double-sided...man was it a pain to flip back and forth from my original diagram.

I would assume LSAC would want the two pages on the booklet to be on opposite sides so you can see both pages, but you never know..

I can confirm this. I took Oct. 2012 and Dec. 2012. All LG's are on two pages now (facing each other, if it matters). Though I don't think it matters, because usually LSAT desks are really small and you can only keep one page on top anyway, so there's a lot of flipping back and forth.

What are your PT scores?

I think getting into the high 170s on PTs is the hardest hurdle to jump. At that point, you have to know the test inside and out.

See i dont have fresh tests left,the last one i took i missed 5 questions,before that i was missing between 12-9 ,i dont score my tests ,it distracts me,but i am sure if we read everything carefully and understand all the details,it is possible,i got a 179 once last year,but that was after drilling 20 days in a row,but lR and RC if we just eliminate the wrong ones and concentrate on the contenders i am assuming we can make it till the test day lets try to make it 0 in each section,its hard but possible i think.
