Re: Kaplan LSAT Instructor audition advice?
5 minute presentation right? Don't seem nervous, speak about something remotely interesting like how to make scrambled eggs or something and your good.
Edit: At least that was my experience.

Re: Kaplan LSAT Instructor audition advice?
I almost auditioned a few years ago and remember being able to pick my topic, but now they force you to choose one of three possible topics (which are all just kaplan LR stimuli).
Basically I just need to dissect a mistaken reversal or something similar. I'm just not sure I could talk about that for seven minutes. I suppose I could just include extra mistaken reversal examples beyond what was given...

My advice is don't do it, and don't teach for Kaplan.

Re: Kaplan LSAT Instructor audition advice?
I was going to post something snarky as well. To be honest, though, test prep jobs are kind of cool for a kid in between undergrad and grad school. I made a very nice living teaching LSAT and MCAT for a few years. Just for full disclosure, I did not teach for Kaplan though.Clearlynotstefan wrote:My advice is don't do it, and don't teach for Kaplan.

Echo above, don't be "that guy" that gets on the case of another presenter. There was a girl in mine that didn't know a thing about FL, but whatever, nobody grilled her on it. You all want a job, most likely in different parts of the country, so it doesn't matter.

Re: Kaplan LSAT Instructor audition advice?
First, send out applications to every other test prep agency that pays way better salary than Kaplan (e.g., all of them).
Then, find a friend or relative and give them your 5-minute lesson. It's not a big deal, they're not looking for you to be a rocket scientist. The point of the audition is to show that your'e likeable and reasonably comfortable talking to groups of people, not that you're an expert in the material. They'll mold you with their "kaplan method", so it doesn't matter too much if you know how to teach the material at the audition point.
