Curious study about high LSAT scorers

Post by HarvardHopeful93 » Wed Jul 25, 2012 2:18 pm

Interested in seeing what high scorers on the LSAT scored and what their majors were. Also interested in the amount of time spent studying.
Let's use this format. This is for a project I'm doing.

LSAT: 1XX
MAJOR: N/A
TIME SPENT: X weeks/months/years

Particularly interested in those that scored 165 and above.

Don't have an official LSAT score, so won't post my stuff. My hypothesis: the highest scoring ones are philosophy or engineering majors (mostly philosophy). The "time spent" will be something like a Gaussian distribution: the highest scores will not be the longest time spent. There will be this sweet spot of time spent for the high score-ers.

There is. This study has been done already, just google it.

Many high scorers comment on that in this sticky, http://top-law-schools.com/forums/viewt ... ?f=6&t=396 , although their major is not given.

LSAT: 167 (but retaking in Oct.)
Major: Classical Language
Time Spent: Feb 1st - June 11th, 2-4 hours on the week day until May 1st, 4-8 on the weekends until May 1st. May 1st - June 11th it was either 3 hours or 6 hours depending on the days I took PTs or the days I drilled. Took every PT between 20-65 in some way.

It probably owes to the kind of people who are attracted to that major. Who might they be?

People who attend lower-ranked UGs. More selective schools tend not to offer those majors.

169 in June (retaking)
History Major
Started studying after finals, so roughly beginning of May, probably on average 3 to 4 hours a day five days a week. This time around I'm studying about the same hours per week, but with an extra two months to study, I'm aiming for 177+.

I scored well above what my fellow sociology major's average would indicate. Studied for 2.5 months.

OP, PM me if you want my score, provided you promise to keep it confidential.

Meh. I'll just PM you and tell you a small range. Hows that?
