Best Prep Course for 141 PT with a goal of 169+
I was just wondering if there is a Prep Course that might better fit a low initial scorer like me that has a higher goal. My first LSAT experience was with a timed PT at my UG and I got a 141. My REACH school is WUSTL, which seems to have a hardline approach to the 168 LSAT score, so for the sake of being safe I want to at least get a 169.
I could blame a few factors in my 141 score, It was terribly muggy in the room, I was hot, there was a TV on down the hall that I could hear, I could not get focused and relax, but the reality is that right now I am in serious need of instruction. I am self motivated, but feel the class room would allow me to learn more and thus perform better.
I know PowerScore, BluePrint, TestMasters seem to be the best overall, and I have read the opposite of Kaplan and Princeton Review. Just wondering if there is one that is more geared to help lower initial scorers and mid scorers achieve the same results.

If you live in the NYC area, check out stratus prep. I used them, and they were great. Geared towards those with goals of high scores

Ha I'm sure you're not screwed. I'm sure plenty of them are good. No matter which company you choose, I would highly recommend a live class as opposed to online, though.jared6180 wrote:Sorry, not in NYC, oh well. Blueprint is cool. I expect most of the people in the room were around 145 or so when they started. If you have a hard time staying focused, take a live class rather than the online video series.

If I was anywhere near a BluePrint class I would take it, but Chicago is about as close as it gets for me out here in Kansas.twentypercentmore wrote:Blueprint is cool. Have you considered the online Blueprint course? I've only just started it (took the diagnostic and have begun the first lesson), but it's fantastic so far, in terms of being engaging. There are video explanations for just about every question you encounter in the PTs they give you as part of the package and in the rest of the test prep materials.jared6180 wrote:If I was anywhere near a BluePrint class I would take it, but Chicago is about as close as it gets for me out here in Kansas.twentypercentmore wrote:Blueprint is cool. Since you're not really near a test prep location, this might be a good option for you!

If you have any questions about our online course, just let me know (I'm Blueprint's rep here).
Also, if you want to get a feel for the videos, we have some samples up on our YouTube channel. You can also see an entire test's worth of video explanations in our free help area (http://blueprintprep.com/free-lsat-help).

My first ever PT was 149 and the last month of my study I only dipped below 170 once. And I did it all self study. If you got the time to teach yourself you don't need to drop that much money on a prep course

Just because you were able to do it doesn't mean that it gives the OP the highest chance of success, which is what he/she should be looking for when they want that much of a score increase.MillerTheThriller wrote:My first ever PT was 149 and the last month of my study I only dipped below 170 once. Who is to say that her/her chance of success is higher with a prep course?Greenandgold wrote:Just because you were able to do it doesn't mean that it gives the OP the highest chance of success, which is what he/she should be looking for when they want that much of a score increase.MillerTheThriller wrote:My first ever PT was 149 and the last month of my study I only dipped below 170 once. I took a Princeton Review course and was very happy with it. Went from a 143 to averaging 171. I DID have one of their "master lsat trainers" though... He was amazing!

I would say that. It's not like there are gonna be any numbers that can back up either of our positions, but I'd say that, on average, a student would see a higher increase in their score from taking a prep class than not. Feel free to disagree, just my two cents.MillerTheThriller wrote:Who is to say that her/her chance of success is higher with a prep course?Greenandgold wrote:Just because you were able to do it doesn't mean that it gives the OP the highest chance of success, which is what he/she should be looking for when they want that much of a score increase.MillerTheThriller wrote:My first ever PT was 149 and the last month of my study I only dipped below 170 once. Gotta ask, if you were averaging a 171, why didn't you retake that 159?Nammertat wrote:I took a Princeton Review course and was very happy with it. Went from a 143 to averaging 171. I DID have one of their "master lsat trainers" though... He was amazing!
