Weekly Skype Sessions
Hey All,
I am hoping to find people here that want to participate in a weekly skype (no webcam necessary) session (probably sometime in the weekend of afternoons) where we discuss what we did for the week, discuss our frustrations and findings. Mainly for the purpose to keep each other motivated and encourage friendly competition. Studying for the LSAT can be a lonely and arduous journey, I am hoping to find others that will make this less painful !
If you are interested please reply to this thread. I will be actively monitoring this thread for the week or so to see if there is any interest.
The main purpose of these discussion groups is to keep each other motivated, through friendly competition and discussion of what they learned this week, and what they still struggle with. It is hoped that the people in this group will help each other to solve their weaknesses, because as I know that many people have different "weak" sections, perhaps we can help each other to fill those gaps. Even if we all have the same weakness, it is better to have a group of people discussing possible methods of conquering that problem, and have different people trying different things, and report back the results. I believe the hardest part about studying for the LSAT is a person's motivation, and willingness to study, especially if you are shooting for 170+. From my personal experience, not alot of my friends understand the effort required in achieving such a score, so is bit boring sometimes because you are somewhat lonley in your goal. So the main point is really to gather ambitious people in a group and keep each other motivated.
Edit: Poll for date (Note, ignore the "specific date", what matters is what day of the week you are consistently free in)

Those 80 people were just scared off by your strong username.
Once you get a group together, we'll help you get things rolling. These usually fizzle if there isn't a strong core of folks ready to show up and do the work each week.
(If I were you and you were king--the paperwork is atrocious to become king, so no dice--I'd charge folks $10 to join the group and then return it if they actually come to 75% of sessions.)

What will these groups entail? What will we cover? What do we plan to discuss? What are the primary goals of such a group? etc.
I'd prefer we don't discuss specific LSAT questions because that will spoil the accuracy of the PTs. That is unless you want to discuss questions following this schedule: http://www.top-law-schools.com/forums/v ... 6&t=185841 That is my main concern with study groups.
That said, thanks for putting this together! Much appreciated.

Re: Weekly Skype Sessions
The main purpose will be discuss people's weakness and hopefully that we all have different ones, so we can help each other out and what we learned, what "epiphany" we just had etc. It would not be purposely for reviewing specific questions on a test, because you can do that on the manhattan forums, or use other books that have nicely written explanations for it. However, during discussion, in order to discuss a specific question type, there might be times that people would need to refer to a specific Q in order to communicate what they dont get, which would be unavoidable, but it shouldnt effect anything.deepblue wrote:What will these groups entail? haha thanks, great idea, but I dont think people will trust a random internet stranger with their money. Especially with all the random scams these days.Manhattan LSAT Noah wrote:Those 80 people were just scared off by your strong username.

Re: Weekly Skype Sessions
Hey I think I would like to participate in this. Some info about me:
Took February 2012: Got a 161.
I am aiming for a 170+. Schools I want to apply to: Northwestern, Cornell, University of Washington, University of Texas, Fordham, Boston University, Northeastern, Florida State, and University of Florida.
I just graduated FSU in spring of 2012 from college. I have a 3.55 GPA, honors finisher, double major. I have solid softs.
Right now I am doing my masters in Applied Politics and Public Policy at FSU and will be starting an internship in the fall.
I was going to take the June 2012 but I am not quite where I want to be yet. I was averaging anywhere from a 164-168, and I got above a 170 once. I am, however, inconsistent. I feel pretty burned out and am trying to re motivate myself. We have plenty of time to build our scores up.

LSAC prohibits discussion, including the so-called “postmortem” discussion of test questions immediately after a particular test administration, because it has the potential to affect the fairness of the LSAT and the law school admission process. This thread has been logged and appropriate action may be taken.

Just throwing this out there- I work a day time during the week job. If possible could we arrange for something post 7 pm EST (at least occasionally)?

I would love to be involved! I'm prepping for a later test, but I could certainly use the accountability, if you all wouldn't mind me joining in.
(And of course, I will not engage in any violation of LSAC policies.)

I'm interested as well. I think a google doc and doodle would be helpful in getting organized.

I want in, please.
I also work a day job, so I'd prefer at least an occasional evening session.

Re: Weekly Skype Sessions
You can put me down as well for the weekly discussions. I'm 23 and have spent a year out of undergrad working. PTing around high 160's and low 170's. Been looking for people to have discussions with for a long time, and have even been teaching my HS friend the LSAT to foster more logical discussion between us. Took June '12 LSAT and cancelled due to the fact that particular day wouldn't be representative of my highest/best capabilities.jimmierock wrote:Most definitely!
