Burglars disturbing my PT
I was doing a PT about 2 hours ago while watching my parents house for the weekend and I hear noises at the door. I look downstairs at the deck and there's a guy with tatoos trying to use a pry bar on my door. I jumped up from the first LG section I had a chance at finishing on time to find a ninja sword I bought when I was in HS and stashed in my closet. I guess the noise scared him off but this dumbass went next door to the neighbors house and tried the same thing. I called the cops and they caught him at the back door of the neighbors house less than 5 mins later. I had two thoughts when I thought he was going to come in, me being the next george zimmerman for killing a punk burglar kid wouldn't help my C and F and I should decapitate him for messing up a great LG section. That's my LSAT prep story

How would that have made you the next Zimmerman? Was the pry bar made of skittles?

You would not have been the first person to kill a burglar with a sword.

Pretty careless comparison. Breaking into homes =/= walking down the streetwhiteness wrote: I had two thoughts when I thought he was going to come in, me being the next george zimmerman for killing a punk burglar kid wouldn't help my C and F and I should decapitate him for messing up a great LG section. Agreed it wasn't the most apt comparison.Nova wrote:Pretty careless comparison. The circumstances aren't exactly the same but we don't have any type of stand your ground laws in my state. In fact, I personally know a man locally that was convicted of second degree murder about 6 or 7 years ago, he owned a bar and restaurant, he and his business partner had a falling out, the partner came to his house and he wouldn't let him in. So he kicked down the door and was shot. The cops didn't believe that he thought he was in danger and that he knew the guy and he wasn't armed. After maybe 5 or 6 months, he was charged and offered involuntary manslaughter. He would have done something like 2 years or so in prison. He turned them down and went to trial and he is doing 12 years in state prison. Agreed, I wasn't on the jury and didn't hear all the facts but I believe if a man is coming in your house regardless of whether you know him or not, you don't know his true intent and you should be able to use whatever force you think is necessary. You never can tell what could happen in a situation like this. I guess the point I was trying to make was I don't want to get caught in some controversy over some situation like this and be under investigation which I would imagine is mandatory when someone is killed. I think that is actually a question on apps: Have you ever been investigated for a crime?

This. Glad that dirtbag is locked up, and everything worked out. You may want to invest in a firearm because, although a samurai sword is pretty intimidating, it does have limitations. Two questions: (1) Was the burglar armed? (2) What did you end up scoring on the LG section?whiteness wrote:Agreed, I wasn't on the jury and didn't hear all the facts but I believe if a man is coming in your house regardless of whether you know him or not, you don't know his true intent and you should be able to use whatever force you think is necessary. The cops said he had a lockblade in his pocket and of course he had a prybar and a screwdriver. There are some guns here but because I was upstairs and he was trying the back door. I wasn't sure whether I could get to one of them in time because I would have to go downstairs and past the door he was trying to get in. So I was going to get the sword and wait behind one of the corners until he came around it and go for the neck. I'm gonna have a talk about relocating one of them up here when I am staying here though.Systematic1 wrote:This. Glad that dirtbag is locked up, and everything worked out. I missed 5 which is a slight improvement over my last PT but the most important part was that I was on track to finish on time. I still have some things to work with the games,

Wow, OP, sorry to hear that this guy interrupted your LG section.
To me, the fact that the cops showed up so quickly is the craziest part of the whole story.whiteness wrote:I called the cops and they caught him at the back door of the neighbors house less than 5 mins later

Tattoos = suspicious. Also, handle is whiteness. OP, you probably are looking at castle law and not stand your ground law if it's in a residence, especially if you can argue that you still live there.whiteness wrote:I was doing a PT about 2 hours ago while watching my parents house for the weekend and I hear noises at the door. Also, there are hints of craziness in this post.

Pretty interesting story. Glad you're alright. Stories like this make me happy we have a 2nd amendment. Wonder what his reaction would have been to break in and find someone wielding a ninja sword.

It's probably a stainless steel "ninja sword" and would have served to piss off the tattooed (thus obviously hardened) criminal. I'm glad he didn't have a gun.tooswolle wrote:Pretty interesting story. Glad you're alright. Stories like this make me happy we have a 2nd amendment. OP username is whiteness, he stated that he has a second story in his house, and the burglar wanted to vandalize the neighbor. I deduce that he lives in a neighborhood where cops actually show up at a reasonable time.LSAT Blog wrote:Wow, OP, sorry to hear that this guy interrupted your LG section.
