Help me out with my 3 month study plan?

Post by Username123 » Sun Mar 11, 2012 4:45 pm

Hey everyone,

. I want to break 170 and apply to T14s. I plan on following Pithypike's guide for the next 3 months, however I am sort of confused on how to go about it on a day-to-day plan. I have all of the materials except the first 10 preptests from LSAC. From what I understand, the first month is based on accuracy, second month is a mixture of speed/accuracy, and the last month is focusing on endurance.

For the first month, I'm going to work on linear and advanced linear games for LG. For LR, I'm working on assumptions, justify the conclusions, weaken/strengthen, and flaw in the reasoning questions. For RC, I will do a reading comp section (untimed), and then the next two days, review all of the passages, correct answer choices, and wrong answer choices - attempting to get in the mind of the authors in all aspects of the test. At the end of the month I will do PreptestA.

The second month will be basically the same plan but will focus on the rest of the logic game types, the rest of the LR question types, and do the same thing with reading comp, but do them all timed. Halfway into the month I will do preptest B and at the end of the month I will take preptest C.

The last month is focused solely on testing. I'll take a test on the first day and the two days following that, I'll review every answer choice (correct and incorrect), cutting out and reviewing the questions/passages/games that give me the most trouble.

So, the whole trouble that I'm having is that I feel kinda clueless on how to routine this on a day to day basis. I feel organized in the grand scheme but I want to have it singled down to what I want to focus on each day. I just don't know how to do that. Anybody have any advice or have a study plan of their own that is similar to this?

Also, any advice on my plan? Should I take different tests at different times? I will be taking all of the first Preptests over the first two months. All of my drilling will be from Kaplan mastery after reading the appropriate LGB and LRB sections. Anybody have any advice or input to make my study plan a bit better? Thanks for any help.

Yea I've got a tip... review the answers to your PrepTests the same day you take it. Even in 24 hours you may forget your exact thought process that led to an incorrect answer. Your studying will be more efficient if you test, break, then review. Mark the questions you got wrong on the bubble sheet itself and once every handful of preptests go back and review everyone one of those questions you got wrong until you know them like family.

Also, it may also be more efficient to focus on only one of LG/RC/LR each day in your first month. I find that after a couple hours of drilling a certain section you "get in the zone" and start to really nail your approach to the questions. If you were to drill several types sections in the same day (in the beginning), you may switch sections before you're really "warmed up," making your prep less productive. HTH

Alright that's some useful advice. Definitely will review all my preptests the day I take them, and I plan to cut out the ones that seem most confusing to me, so that I can study them up until June 11th.

Question though, you're saying stick to only one (LR LG RC) per day for the first month or the first and second month? I was planning on focusing on LR everyday but then switch LG and RC back and forth. It would have been day 1 - LR and LG, day 2 LR and RC, then repeat. I guess yours makes sense since I'm trying to perfect the little things and techniques as much as possible so focusing on one of the three each day would allow me to do that to the fullest extreme.

Thanks

I was thinking stick to one type per day for the first month. Then begin doing preptests and/or doing sections (combined LG/RC/LR).
