February Retake Question

This may have been answered already, and if so, I apologize. If I retake in February and don't get my score back until after the application deadline of March 1st, will the schools still use that score if I have submitted an app before the deadline with the December score? Or would a score that comes after March 1st be useless until the next cycle?

I e-mailed one school (Davis) and asked for them to consider the Feb. score; they agreed.
