What does betray suppose to mean here? Does it mean show/exhibit? (does betray also have that meaning?)

Basically the word "betray" here means "reveals."
It it is an abstract use of the word "betray," but think of the "blind spot" being "betrayed" by the fact that all the books about [insert person] avoid the blind spot, and therefore make it painfully obvious that the blind spot exists... If that makes any sense....
