Does a bad LSAT score really matter if you are retaking?
I took the LSAT for the first time yesterday and bombed it kind of bad, based on the amount of guesses I had to make I would say I did lower than I did on any of my practice tests other than my diag (where I scored a 155). Avg for PTs was 166, the last 3 PTs I had were 170 (dec 08), 169(dec 2010) , 167(june 11).
My rough guess would put me in the 158-162 range? Not sure but I straight guessed on 18 of the questions total which is never the case for me.
Anyways my goal is T14, 170+. Feel like I can do it with more studying. I was thinking of cancellation but in a way I kind of want to know what I got, plus there is always a crazy chance that I was so lucky that most of my guesses were correct.
So does having one 158 and another acceptable score for a T14 matter at all? Or would having a cancel + acceptable T14 score be better?

Doesn't really matter as long as you get the 170+ eventually.

i love you enthusiasm about retaking, you are probably the reason I am going to take the LSAT like 5 times until I hit 170+.soj wrote:Doesn't really matter as long as you get the 170+ eventually.

Good to hear it. You GPA is too good, CC. Do make sure you're preparing thoroughly though. No sense in taking it over and over again (you can't take more than three times in two years without petitioning LSAC anyway) when you're not ready.

I did a few PTs before the Dec retake and got 171,171,169. At this point, I was hoping for 167+ but the RC just completely destroyed me and it's usually what prevents me from breaking 170 so I do not think I did better than Oct . I really need to work on RC but I've decided I will write one last time otherwise pursue other options. You think there would be a serious problem with getting 1 petition request granted with a half decent reason?soj wrote:Good to hear it. You GPA is too good, CC. I have no idea how lenient LSAC is with those petitions. Still, you should sign up only when you're ready. Practice enough so that you don't have to get lucky to get a score you want.
